Hey, i thought it would be a good idea to create a thread containing lots of hints, tips, and tricks submitted by the community, for the community.
Old and new players should be able to learn something from this thread, if you have any tips or tricks you use or know of, or just want to have your opinion, post a reply :)

A few tricks i use on Strand/Charlie :

If you going up the middle towards the mortar pit, start cooking a grenade about half way between the pit and the elevated land behind you, as you get closer to the mortar pit, (dont let your head go higher than the floor of it) throw it in so it goes flying into the crossroads of the trenches, once thrown, move back a bit, (Always keep moving to avoid being shot) then rush in once its blown. :)

When firing a support weapon, aim at their feet and let the recoil walk the shots up to their head. Also pull back on the mouse a little. It helps on the recoil.

dont run out in the open when you know there's a deployed MG watching there :glare:

when it comes to nades: you know there's a person picking off your team from a window or doorway, master how high you need to aim to get the nade to land smack dab in the middle of that window/doorway. Depending on how far away you are from it, count to 2-one thousand or 3-one thousand and throw. This tactic should lead to a kill or critically wounding your enemy, making for an easy follow up shot & kill.

DONT ALWAYS RELY ON MELEE FOR CLOSE QUARTERS! Especially true for the sniper houses in donner. A good player will periodically check his minimap for friendly positions. If he notices a player get killed in the same building he is in, he knows someone is coming for him/her. Have you finger on the trigger, if he/she is looking at the stairwell, blast away. If your not noticed, you may sneak up for the punch kill!!

in a tough economic time, giving a fellow player a free knuckle sandwich will save them some money on food...but run up their medical bill :chair:

I agree to aim low Quaffer but the feet are maybe too low, if you're new to support aim hip-level but after you've got some experience you should be aiming at the stomach to chest and pulling back on the mouse after the first shot.

More:
Anything less than 40 hit points why not hop into fire and prep your medic at 24HP?

If you're charging into the Kalt wheelhouse when the enemy has a bridge, throw a grenade high into the room first. If you hear someone take damage ("Ahh"), throw another one and immediately run into the room. They'll be dazed or dead or retreating.

A peeking opponent will have a shot advantage over a player in a fixed position if they know where you are. Keep this in mind, offensive snipers always have a slight advantage over camping snipers or MGs!

Never round a corner that an MG or sniper's watching with anything less than a sprint or shaky strafe moves. At range, don't give them an easy target, if it's just a sniper and he misses, shoot back! You have at least two seconds and you might get lucky, and then get moving again! Do not crouch or prone against a sniper in cover trying to get lucky, that's silly and you will die. Move, move, move.

Don't be so eager to throw grenades in close combat. Experienced and aggressive players will sniff out your desire to throw one and they'll find you before you can toss it. Instead, be aggressive and challenging.

If you're cooking a grenade, move around, strafe back and forth or whatever but make yourself a hard target to hit, you're a sitting duck while that thing cooks!

If you're flanking the enemy team on the Kalt bridge and they're holding the bridge, either run below the bridge or on the far side of the concrete sides of it so you avoid the capture area. Attentive players will notice that there was an enemy on the bridge behind them and they'll snap around for a shot. If you've ever flanked the bridge and seen someone snap 90 degrees to blast you, this is why.

You CAN catch grenades in mid-air and you should! If you're on a capture point and a grenade lands at your feat you're really better off picking it up and either throwing it or just dying. You don't lose any points in HLXStats for a suicide and chances are they would have killed you anyway with another grenade. Just don't run away from a grenade that lands at an MG or sniper's feet, if you're close enough, pick it up and they'll respect you as long as you play there.

Grenades are not always killing weapons, sometimes they can be used to distract enemies. Arc a high-flying grenade in the air and towards a gaggle of players and then immediately run out to start shooting. Players are easily distracted and they'll stare at that grenade and go (oooh pretty) before they realize you're exposed and already taking aim.

good stuff

Great tips rp, however, I just wanted to point out that you do lose 5 points for a suicide even though it does not pop up on the screen.

As a past almost exclusive rifle player I know that it takes time to get used to assault or support classes. The main thing that I would recommend when using the assault class is to aim for the head. This is something that not nearly enough assault players try to do and there is nothing as frustrating as getting headshot by an assault weapon when you think you have some more time as they spray at you. Otherwise just go play Kalt and follow the suggestions rp made above; I'm not sure how you could ever die/lose/or even miss any shots with the 8 page instructional he has laid out for you.

Tips

1. Communicate. Talk concisely and be specific about enemy locations. Save your team from certain death by giving a quick heads up about that MG or Sniper. Let your team know when it is safe to move if you have taken a street or building.

2. Gather the troops. In Kalt ask for a team of sewer runners or wheel house runners. It is safer to run in packs and take that last flag, but remember do not bunch up too closely because of grenades.

3. Spectate the good players. Learn what they do and see why they do it. Take from them tactics that fit your gaming style or adapt your own variation of a winning move that works for them.

Best thing you can do in any map - TALK TO YOUR TEAM an informed team knows enemy positions, their routes towards your flags, when to rush, and when to stay in cover and work with others on capping objectives its harder for that mg to kill both of you at once than it is when one person runs out at a time

i know this is sort of mean but it works- if you know there is a sniper around the corner or an mg wait for someone on your team to nade it, smoke it, or sprint out then pop out for your shot they'll be focused on them not you so pop pop theyre dead

Garand 101- this is probably common sense by now but when shooting the M1 Garand shoot twice at a time if the enemy isnt wounded you'll need both shots unless you can hit them in the head

if youre around an enemy mg and out of nades throw a smoke nade at him! In my experience just the sight of a smoking object flying at them is enough to make them get up at which point you may unleash a rain of bullets while they flee in terror!!!!
works for me every time

this is actually a pretty huge tip: put your medic bind in say_team instead of just say. If you throw a grenade into the wheelhouse and someone shouts !medic, and you hear it, and you can see WHO it is by seeing who typed it you have a huge advantage.

You usually know what class that player plays, particular spots they may be in or what kind of skill level they have and that may affect your decision to charge in or hold back. Not only that, but you know that that player is stationary for the x number of seconds for medic to work (the default is 5). It's always advantageous to assault a stationary enemy.

In short, put your medic bind in TEAM chat! the bind is: bind <key> "say_team !medic" and after you fix that yourselves make sure you recommend it to everyone who asks what the bind is!

1. When having MG and in allies in Ava,never let your guard down by snipers and other MG's

2.Always have small crosshairs to aim better (works with me)

3. Never ever snipe while standing, only do it when you have a wall blocking ya.

My favorite tip is to hide behind things and shoot them as they walk by.

just for snipers: if someone is sprinting to avoid your scope, dont even bother trying to chase them across the screen. Just hold your scope ahead of them and let them run into instant death. You do all the hard work people, i just have to click :P

some more tips from kalt:

1.)if there is an mg on the bridge set up on the little walls in the back corners, smoke the corner and throw yourself on the ground prone, then snake your way in, pop up opposite them and hope you kill them faster than they notice you. works like 70% of the time for me

2.) keep moving
2a.) dont run in straight lines
3.) if there is a sniper, throw a smoke at them. theyll retreat.
4.) keep a watch on your minimapand deaths, one good flanker can take out most of an inattentive team. It may sound bad, but i usually point my gun at the people going sewers/wh and notice when they die so I can camp said points :P
5.)use your grenades, just not on your team
6.) COMMUNICATE

I came here expecting some uber-tips from Ron ;)

When using the STG44, always aim for the center of mass (chest). The recoil, when properly controlled, will put the first three bullets through the chest, throat, and nose, and it has a fast enough rate of fire that you can just let rip with short bursts.

On Avalanche, when confronted with an Allied MG on the balcony, go through the apartments and cook off a grenade for 3-4 seconds, then toss it over the barrier. Properly done, the MG is gone. Likewise, for MGs covering the Axis second, you can always expect a 1-second delay before you get cut down coming out of the apartments. Cook a grenade for 3 seconds, aim high, and strafe onto the balcony while tossing it. It will bounce right behind the MG and kill them.

From the Allied side: The false doorway is your friend, and there are tons of hiding spots inside the Axis base. You can easily kill snipers in the double windows from the yellow apartments with a Thompson, and launch rifle grenades up towards the second as soon as a round starts for easy kills.

There are many obstacles you can toss nades over. In Flash the Allies can throw grenades over their hedgerow into the field near their 2. If Axis has taken your 2 you can hurt them badly this way. Axis can toss nades over the wall just past their barn into the field with the tank and the 2nd flag. I'm still experimenting with timing and flight paths in order to reach all the annoying spots they use to deny you access to YOUR Tiger Tank! :)

For MGs and snipers I try and wait for them to reload before popping out. I see alot of snipers constantly moving from window to window so people dont zero in on them. That is when I like to pop out and be ready for them to come into view at their new position.

Just have to be aware of your surroundings too though, cause chances are their is another sniper or MG in the area going after you while you trying to find your target. And always know who is in the building with you. Like in Donner, if your sniping from the top windows, know who is on the levels below you. If they start dropping like flies, chances are someone broke into your sniper house and your next.

Aw I hope at least one tip was worth your visit :O

I'd share more but then I wouldn't have any material for my Advanced Tips & Tricks Interactive Training Tutorial where I teach all my secrets to players for $39.99 an hour.

... I'm kidding, DONT PM me lol

and no gumball my "secrets" don't include "how to download hax" :facewall:

Rubberbandman has a good tip, don't go chasing people with your crosshair if your shot isn't developed enough, just put your crosshair into the path and fire when they intersect, same with rifles.
