Mandatory meetings would be quite difficult, since about half of us are still in school,(Jr. High, High school, College) and the system seems pretty organized.

If this makes me one of the lazy people that doesn't deserve my O then by all means demote me. I could care less about my rank so long as I get to have fun with a great group of people.

As long as you're doing your administrative duties while you're in-game, you're not 'lazy.' Not every single O has to partake in various extra groups like the AR's, AT's, or EC's. Those who truly have the time to dedicate to eGO are represented as our leadership. If we were all as dedicated as they are, that wouldn't quite work, nor is it possible.

Just because someone gets their O doesn't mean that they are obligated to spend a certain amount of time in-game. The only requirements I see an average joe 'O' having is keeping the server running smooth, staying updated on the forums, and mentoring G's into becoming better admins. We're all here to have fun :)

So in conclusion, no you're not lazy. You're doing exactly what I feel is what eGO is all about. Having fun. Nothing wrong with that, and I don't know you too well, but I'm sure you're a fine admin who deserves their O.

***Let me clarify that while I agree with some of the suggestions this individual made, these are my opinions and may be in direct conflict with the policies set up by leadership. This individual has made several excellent suggestions and some rather difficult ones to fulfill. Mandatory meeting seem like an impossibility considering we have people from around the world with jobs and other responsibilities. However I feel that the members of this clan (especially eGs and eGOs) need to be more informed about decisions made by leadership, after all it is hard to follow orders or policies if you are unaware of them. Perhaps a section of the forums should be dedicated to rules, policies and new changes implemented by leadership.

As for the recruitment and admission of new members, I have always been of the philosophy that the applicant should be well aware of the rules and policies of the clan before admission. This doctrine is common practice in a variety of organization and better screening of prospective clan members should be considered a high priority, since all members of our organization are a reflection of our standards. Perhaps MAUL verification should become a requirement for admittance as well as a referral from an admin.

With regards to the rapid promotion of some individuals, my opinion is that some are deserved while others are handouts. I know that this statement will likely offend some individuals, and let me clarify that that is not my intention. I agree with the individual in some of his writing that the promotion of an individual should be based on accomplishments, dedication and participation rather than relationship to higher ranking clan members or immediate promotion of pubs. Again these are my opinions and should be taken as such, I am merely a member of this organization so I do not hold the right to deny or denounce such activity. I will however note that this type of activity does instill jealousy and resentment to both the promoters and promotes, which has a negative impact on team dynamics.

The subject I agree with most is the administration in Vent. Some of the individuals given the responsibility of admining in Vent like to put passwords on channels that should be accessible to all members. In addition, when a spammer begins harassing people in different channels some admins change channels and password it rather than getting rid of the problem. These actions irritate me and are the main reason I do not regularly join Vent. I realize that not all admins or members participate in this behavior, and the members who do (to my knowledge or lack there of) have the right to do so. Once again these types of actions lower the number of people in Vent as well as reduce camaraderie and cohesiveness.

*Let me also put in a public request for the promotion of this individual to the rank of =(eGO)= for bringing these issues to light.

I agree on the promotion idea.
I've been frustrated seeing people get eGO or eG because they pmed JohnT something.( and if you know who u are, I don't hate you <3)

We should hold event if someone or people are going to be promoted.
What I mean is, we should give them he admin on the event server and teach them he basics like kicking and banning and it's like a test, you must pass it to get an A. So like quiz them after u teach them the basics.

I would forget the mandatory meetings, too many timezones to consider.

You are always going to have problems with promotions, someone is always going to believe that AdminX dosen't deserve it and PlayerY should have gotten it instead.

There will also always be problems with admins going off the reservation the minute they taste a little power. Every online community has the same issues. A supposedly solid member gets admin duties and turns into instadouche. Everyone stands around wondering what the hell happened, but no one wants to dump their buddy from the list. The community may just need to police itself a little better, and hold the admins to at least a minimum set of standards.
I haven't experienced any truly bad or abusive admins here, just a couple of lazy ones.
Unfortunately the admins are just like the members, human; and cant be perfect every day of the week, so its not unacceptable to cut the guys running the servers at least a little slack sometimes.

Disagree on the whole:

1) Mandatory Meetings - No. Obvious reasons

2) Quotas - No. I agree with Icarus, leadership will burn out.

3) Application Process - 99% apply knowing what eGO's rules are, I rarely have to kick =(e)=s. People aren't going to waste their time applying for something they know little of.

4) Promotion Process - Would have to agree with what some people say about Gs not being fully active on servers, but MOST people are fine.

5) VENT - IMO, just needs to be more popular and then I will be there.

Not a single thing I disagree with on that list.

Even the meetings, since I'll never need to worry about them. ;D
