Why does EGO servers have this?

I'm all about random crits. Sometimes life just takes a giant dump on ya. I feel TF2 reflects this facet of "RL" pretty well, given some of the outrage about it ;)

If something's making you die and get mad, it's letting someone else kill you and be happy.

By dying from crits, you are helping to make the world a better place. On behalf of the happy people, I thank you.

I had no idea so many people are so supportive of such a BS feature in the game. Nice to know, but hey everyone has a right to an opinon. What kinda upsets me about this thread is how an EGO ranking person is disrespectful to my post, by saying "QQ". I thought at your rank at least I wouldn't face such insensitive comments to an issue like this.
Anyways, earlier when i posted this I was pretty frustrated because every time I died it was due to a crit. This happened 5 times in a row... I noticed a pattern and thought why do we even have this? Its not the same person who keeps killing me but its just the sheer randomness of everyone spamming rockets/nades etc and it so conveniently lands on me. Can you see the frustration building when you die to critical hits 5 times in a row?
And as far as Valve reducing the critical chance like they did, I'm VERY happy to hear this. :)

however I get a lot of kills just because of random criticals, and I shouldn't complain since I think I have one of the highest crit based kills, still I do a lot of damage to gain it, if I see a soldier walking out of spawn, he instantly shoots 2 critrockets with 2% chance of happening of each. I don't mind getting critted by a good player, I know they can take me out without the crits, but so many players can't and are showing that luck can beat skill a lot of times.

Valve should reduce it even more if you ask me though :)

I personally would like random crits turned off.

However, I think general eGO policy is to keep all server settings default, if I am not mistaken. That includes keeping random crits on.

I agree and that can be frustrating at times. If I wanted to play a game of randomness and hardly no skill, I'd play cards with my friends or something. The skill it requires to take out your enemy is the only thing that keeps me interested. However, with these crits going all over the place kinda gives you a big middle finger on improving yourself.

If the same person is killing you over and over, your problem isn't crits.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaahhahahahahaha

sorry but that was funny. and true.

but listen guys. Critical Hits are part of the game, and respectfully make the game more interesting. This is one measure where the saying goes "Dont hate the player, Hate the game." should be used the other way around for once.

I've always thought that the base 5% crit chance should be totally removed. Kill streak crits and kritzkrieg are 100% win though. If you don't work for the crit, you don't deserve it.

I'd be fine with that.

Sorry guys, but crits are just part of TF2. They were designed in for a reason and we're not going to take them out any time soon.

ive the same opinion as chris (racecar)
cuz 1 crit can kill everything
and its lame to run arround on the map and kill people with random crits
i prefer the play without crits
i played like a half year on a "no random crits" server and it was pure fun

My first thought was a line from Futurama. "I've run over black cats that were luckier than me!"

Unfortunately, when probability comes into play, it doesn't discriminate. Every shot has a chance of being a crit, and cold hard numbers could care less who they target. I can imagine being critted several consecutive times would make the game less fun, but I think it's just worth moving past that. Stay positive and tell yourself the next five rockets you shoot will be crits ;).

disrespectful to my post, by saying "QQ".

If ego isnt open ground to discuss opinions rather then shut them down i dont know how much longer ill be around.

Big up to everyone who actually HAD something to say about racecars idea.

also imo:

i like everything just how it is

Guys, you do know this discussion is completely pointless, nobody is changing anything, crits make players hold on to the game in the beginning, it makes it a little bit easier so you wont get owned all the time and stop playing.

It is the same reason Tyrkael said, they are there for a reason

We cannot all have what we want, remember that
