Who else doesn't like the state of music right now?

I was looking at itunes yesterday, and I saw the top 10 singles, I listened to the sample of each song, and by the end I was facepalming like crazy. Why is autotune, not playing instruments, and sampling other songs so popular now? What ever happened to the time when music ROCKED? I like a ton of modern rock like muse and others, but they never break into those top songs. At school dances they play absolute bullcrap, unlike in the 80's when they played styx at school dances. I'm not even that old, just a sophomore in high school.

It was great in 2000 and it's great now.

Basically what I'm saying is that the top ten is no indication of 'THE STATE OF MUSIC OMG'. The good stuff's still there, you just have to look for it.

honestly i dont even pay attention to the top 100 in itunes. all that music is just plain crap, and i find it ridiculous anybody can find it enjoyable.

luckily every body that i know listens to good, unique, and tasteful music. music that actually takes talent to make.


blink 182, andy mckee, jack johnson, the hush sound, arcade fire, yeah yeah yeahs, something corporate, OAR, jacks mannequin, nevershoutnever, and panic at the disco.... those just happen to be my favorite :D

Music was invent to be a form of expression. As time progressed you can see that creativity was Devolving. Its either a new dance craze or music that sounds decent but the lyrics have no meaning. Its sad.
 
You summed up everything in my mind. What ever happened to awesome bands like Black Sabbath? Why is every song some dude beat boxing and some dude making random rhymes?
