how can i get a moving avatar? i tired the image link and it just posted a still pic. i tried saving it and uploading but it said Invalid file.

I'm not sure what the rules are as far as what they allow for avatars, but you probably want to upload a .gif file. By my best guess that's what other people are using for their animated avatars.

ok. how do i upload a gif file? i went to gifbin.com and the URL or saving the pic and uploading it didn't work.

You're trying to create a moving avatar correct? .gif files consist of several still images which when played back to back create a moving image. Which means that you'll need to combine several stills using a program or website or something in order to create a .gif. There are also programs out which can convert a .avi to a .gif file for you, but most of them you have to pay for. You might be able to find a free one somewhere though.

Got it working now :D. Click below if you need further help and wanna chat with me :).

If you're trying to change your forum avatar, make a .gif as has been previously described, then upload it from the 'Edit Avatar' page. It doesn't matter if you upload it from that page or put in an url - your actual avatar will be hosted on the forum's server. You shouldn't need to host your avatar on an external server just to change/set it (different story with sigs :P).

what about .gifs that are already on the internet. like gifbin.com Can i get those as my avatar.

I believe that you can just put the URL in at the avatar page, but if that doesn't work you can always try saving it to your computer and then uploading it using the "Browse" button on the avatar page.

i tried that and the URL just puts the still image. and saving it and uploading says Invalid file.

Are there other members on the forum who have moving avatars? It's possible that eGO just has them disabled.

i got it working. if anyone else is wondering what i did is i found the file i wanted, went to GIFworks.com and edited the pic to the right size.
