I dont know if anyone else saw this, it was on the tf2 steam forums and i thought it was such a great idea.

"SCOUT
Batter's Helm: Melee weapon's damage is increased by 10%.
Bonk Helmet: Bonk! Atomic Punch lasts twice as long (but so does the slow-down effect).
Ye Olde Baker Boy: Knockback on user is decreased by 15% for FaN.

PYRO
Pyro's Beanie: Jumping gravity is decreased 25% for the user.
Brigade Helm: Fire damage is decreased 30% for the user.

HEAVY
Football Helmet: 20% more speed. I actually like this idea, but definetly not 20%

ENGINEER
Engineer Cap: Repair rate for buildings increased by 25%
Texas Ten Gallon: Shotgun and Pistol do 15% more damage

SNIPER
Trophy Belt: Huntsman arrows travel 15% faster.
Professional's Panama: Sniper Rifle charge-time is 25% faster.
Master's Yellow Belt: Jarate has a 10% chance of inflicting full crits, rather than mini-crits.

MEDIC
Prussian Picklehaub: Primary weapons deal 15% more damage. "

yes im aware that some of these things are crazy
(Pyro's Beanie: Jumping gravity is decreased 25% for the user.
Brigade Helm: Fire damage is decreased 30% for the user.)

no because you think peoplecomplain now just wait till they dont get special advantages for having hats

Hat buffs would be very overpowered at this time in my opinion. Seeing as its completely random weather or not you get a hat, there is always going to be someone who will never get a hat (probably me). Something that rare to unlock shouldn't have any effect on game play.

Of course I'm only complaining because Valve never gave me a hat yet and for some reason won't even let me play TF2 anymore.

I decided to make my own hat upgrades and modifications. I have too much time on my hands. :P

IF (Strong if) this were to happen, Valve would need to give every player all of the hats. Or at least let you choose one for every class.

This whole "hat adds special attributes" idea is really bad cos players with hats would have an unfair advantage over other players and many ppl would quit playing tf2. And if this were to happen they must come up with really balanced attribute and give every player a hat and Valve would never make such a huge mistake. I mean they had their moments in the past but it wasn't as big as this would be.

Positive: None
Negatives: People will rage, People will want the trading system faster

This is a terrible idea hats are fine as cosmetics. If they change im going back to Cod4.

I don't think they should do it, it isn't right to give certain people buffs on random chance (barring the weapons, because those are 'sidegrades' not 'upgrades', and are very common), and if they gave a hat to everyone (besides cheaters lament) then it would defeat the purpose of hats imo.

No buffs

Stop it

Think about Carmine, He would kill everyone then.

I'm not against it because of the stats (actually, I think that's pretty cool and I really don't believe it'll make TF2 into an RPG). Rather, because hats are ridiculously rare and there's no sign of a trading system yet, very few people will have hats. Hats, as they are now, are a coveted item simply because they don't do much other than make you look cool. If stats are added, demand will skyrocket and cause more whining, complaining, etc...for people who don't have any hats or those who don't have hats for their strongest class.

For the sake of sanity, I think hats need to remain buff-less and just be a fun/silly cosmetic change. Changing them to include stats is going to cause yet another "OMG TF2 SUCKS! VALVE SUCKS!" outburst that I really don't think this game needs. Then again, I've been to the Steam forums and they'll find just about anything to complain about ;)
