Hey everyone,

Upon trying to help out a co-worker i found this program Knoppix its a live CD software that for the most part is the easiest to burn and use from my personal experience. It uses Linux like most live CD software. Has anyone else had any experience with this software? I was wondering if anyone could help me with "customizing" the software so i can run Spybot S&D etc. on the computers that im trying to fix. The help and FAQ sections are sort of vague at best.

I burned the ISO file got it to load up correctly can see all folders but have yet to try and run any programs to see if i can get the OS (vista) to run again seems to be a bad file but i cannot find which file might be bad as vista tools only let you know you have a bad file but does not name the file(s) in the advanced "diagnostic" tools.

As far as I know, Spybot S&D won't run on Knoppix. If you want a live CD that can run that and other Windows programs, check out WinPE from Microsoft. You need a Windows CD in order to build the image, and it can be Windows XP, Vista, or 7. Here's the guide to creating an image for Windows Vista/7, and an XP version of the same. Both let you customize the images and embed software. There are third party programs out there that do the same as the Microsoft versions, but allow further customizations and offer easy-to-use wizards. My favorite of these is BartPE. You'll still need a Windows CD to use the third-party WinPE creators.

Yeah i found BartPE after i found out that Knoppix also does not allow me to access my external USB hard drive it shows up in the program while running but trying to access it gives me a error message =\

I finally got BartPE to work =P after 3 disc trys turns out i was burning the ISO to fast 48x turns out not to be a good idea so 4x speed works wonders =P
