First of all, don't buy prebuilt, you will not get any good performance or good price from a prebuilt computer.
Either 1st option, build it your self.. we can help with the parts and you just order them online and put it together. Trust me its really easy once you actually have the parts, its all pretty explanitory what goes where and how to set it up and there are tons of guides of what to do if you need extra help. (Preferred option)
or your 2nd option use a website that lets you customize your parts, select the parts that you want and have them build it and ship it to you. Ie. www.ibuypower.com www.cyberpowerpc.com etc.

Yeah, along with the internet guides you get manuals with all your parts.. Just read them if your not sure and do what it says.
Like the CPU it shows you how to put on the thermal paste and where to plug its power connectors/put on the heatsink, and the case shows how to setup the standoffs and where to put wires.
Motherboard labels all the slots in the manual also, along with actual color coding on the board(brownish is agp etc..), plus you can tell where to put stuff anyway just based on the pin connections.
Building a PC really seems daunting to a lot of people for some reason, it's easier than building a lego set IMO.. has less steps even and your guided all the way through it, you can't mess anything up except for forgetting to ground your self, if you managed to put something in the wrong place or seat the heatsink wrong it becomes obvious instantly and you can correct it.

Building a system is the most cost effective way to do it, its the number one way to get a gaming PC because you can shop around for each part.. Building your own PC you can knock off tons and tons of dollars versus doing it another way.
I'm sure a bunch of people will start suggesting builds, you can pretty easily get a nice system for 600$.. just wait for people to wake up tomorrow

Let me know what you might want to keep from your old comp like hard drive, dvd drives, ram, case etc.

So since this is my first time building a Gaming PC, could you guys search around and set me up a make-believe PC, just so I have some example of things I could get for $600? Just a list like:
-Power Supply
-RAM
-Monitor (needs to be included in price)
-Hard Drive #1
-Hard Drive #2 (optional)
-Optical Drive
-Video Card

Those were just some of the things. Also, I think I might be keeping my old comp becuase my dad & mom still use it. So I don't really want to take anything out of it except the keyboard, since I have a replacement.

Dude with monitor included, you won't be getting anything nice. That knocks off like 150 bucks right out of your computer budget. And RAM's getting expensive both ddr2 and ddr3
Okay, lets say I somehow got another monitor. What kind of stuff would I be looking at then?

The barebone tempest found is pretty sick. And monitors don't really matter much. acer's seem to last forever. I've had mine for almost 3 years and still going without a single dead pixel.

Wow, that's a really nice barebone for the price.
The extra $100 you save can be put into a 9800gt or a cheap GTS250.
