Hey,
Ok so for some odd reason after my steam servers page seem'd to have every server as being down(quite possible due to the update) my ping to any server has been terribly high.
For eGO servers i'm bouncing around anywhere from my usual ~90 up to ~900.:O
If I view the complete servers list I get some over 1000:scared:
In the black mesa server my net graph thankfully is not giving me anything this high but is between 300 and 600, so still pretty high.
I've tried some fiddling with my computer, that i've found on other sites but can't seem to get any better, or when i do i go into the server and bang jumps way up.
my computers not the greatest so i usually only get visual lag but my pings usually under 150.
I've gone to speedtest.com and run it in multiple locations and get my normal values from 50(nearby location)-200(other side of earth location).
just to make sure its understood, I have never had this ping problem until after the halloween update.

My laptop specs: yes i play tf2 on a laptop with a drawpad:P

Toshiba Satellite Notebook
windows vista:facewall: HE 32-bit
3GB Ram
Intel Celeron Processor 575 @2ghz
intel 4 series express chipset video

all fits perfectly within TF2 mins, I can actually get pretty good quality with it.. gets a little hot during big fights but other than that performs well as the only things i run while playing are steam and tf2.

anyways any help with this would be greatful. Sorta tired of missing people because i think I move and don't or I move and think i'm safe meanwhile i've already died etc etc.. not so fun for me and not fun for others to see me bouncing around.

O just an fyi before i forget, i found out tonight in playing around trying to fix that my isp has screwed up my network and isn't giving me my full speeds.. I don't trust them so could be them i'll be calling them during the day to fix my capping issue so i'll ask about this aswell.

Edit:
Very random, but i DL vent and now everything seems to be back in somewhat tolerable levels.. still not normal but much better.. any ideas still greatly appreciated

this can be closed I solved the problem...
Just in case anyone else has the same issue heres what happened.

I spent all day today on the phone with Bell Sympatico trying to find out why they were capping my speeds, and what might be causing this issue. After hours of getting nowhere they finally forwarded my issue to their main office. At this point I had to go out, and somewhere along the lines my laptop never went to sleep when I closed it(dunno why but no biggy). Anyways I come home to find a whole bunch of random icons and such all over my desktop. Guess one thing I never thought to look for was viruses, adware, etc. I have norton as I do like it, just hate that it eats my CPU as if its starving. Unfortunately whatever I had wouldn't allow norton to install properly. Since I knew the problem only started last night I went into system restore and restored it back to earlier yesterday. Haven't yet gone into server to test if its fixed but the pings its giving me on the server screen are back to normal.
Anyways just thought I'd post my resolution in case anyone else has the problem and can't solve it.

If you don't like Norton, I would recommend Avira Antivirus. It's easy on the hardware, and I've used to clean up computers using Norton - Norton was overlooking about 30 trojans/worms etc.
