I think the idea is neat, but as someone who won't preorder L4D2, I think it's a bit unfair. I like the idea the other guy (a few replies back) had for giving hats for every Steam game you own. Now THAT would be neat. At least make this "Bill" hat something you could obtain later on by dominating a guy who's wearing it, like the Gibus.

On a lighter note, this is pure marketing genius for the folks at valve. Kudos to them. If they can lure a few more folks to purchase the follow up to omgwthbbq! zombie spamfest 1 then good for them.
My money is on hl3.

Who would that be? My money will be going towards AC2. I have no desire to buy Left 4 Dead 2, the first one was great, but I don't plan on spending $45 on this one.

i see a handful of them frequently on blackmesa though. playername [25 hats]
anotherplayername [12 hats]
makes me laugh when i see it. they are just hats. a little easter egg/diversion to an already great game. now, the second valve starts putting +stats on hats then we are gonna have a problem.

This is one hat that I do not care for, although I can imagine some people will preorder LFD2 now just to get their hands on it.
I don't see any need for this though. The halo was a case of supposed cheaters and non-cheaters which is where alot of trouble arose from. This one is juts people who payed $45 get a hat. I don't see any need to argue over this one.

We could use the hat to flush out those immature people. I think taking it away would be a bad thing. Because those immature people who are mad because they didn't get the hat and try to take it out on those who did get their way. Sure admins will have to work a little harder, but that's the responsibilities of being an admin is it not?

I don't think you can cancel a pre-order. It's basically like buying a regular steam game so once it's bought the only way to stop it would be to have your card bounce or cancel it on that end.
