Hey guys,

I've been playing the 24/7 office server for a while now, almost 2 days game time, and I'm starting to notice a few things that significantly reduce the amount of fun I can have while playing, if I'm winning or losing.

The problems for me are basically way too many flash bang and smoke grenades. Sometimes around 7-9pm PST there will be 10-15 smoke grenades out for the first minute of server time. To me, it seems like way to much, it slows down the game a lot for CT's because no one wants to rush down a hallway that is so smoked you can't see anything other than radar, and it also significantly reduces FPS for people with lower end machines.

I'm also not enjoying the huge amount of team flashes, which I think stems directly from the 16,000 cash every round as everyone can buy two, and they do. While this isn't a problem in itself, it becomes a problem (to me) when I'm getting flashed 10-15's a round, and more than half are usually team flashes.

Anyone have any ideas on how we could improve this situation? Do you completely disagree with me? Whatever your opinion, I'd like to know so leave a reply.

These problems have always existed, specfically in office because everything is such close quarters and long halls. Being careful where you throw, knowing when to throw, and being able to turn when you see a flash flying is good.
However, smoke grenades are there for that specific reason, and are being used right.

I don't believe anything will be done regarding this matter.

Yeah, you've got a point Jay. These problems have always existed, especially on office, but I have to disagree that the smokes are being used correctly... there shouldn't be 30-40 smokes used every round, especially when there are only 25-30 people playing. There definitely exists a problem there, I think.

But, if you still disagree please answer the poll, as I appreciated your input :D

It is part of the game. It doesn't give either team a significant advantage. It might be inconvenient for some play styles but I don't think there is anything wrong with this behavior. It always comes and goes; I have been playing for years and have seen this over and over, people do get tired of it eventually. There really is no point to restrict these tools as they are highly effective when you get a chance to use them how YOU want to. If some people want to use them in a different way, so be it, and adapt to a new and challenging type of play!

Yes, but what is smoke for? To make people cautious, and keep them away, due to limited vision. Why do T's do that? in order to keep CTs away from hostages: their objective. What is lots of smoke for? To keep them away longer, and to scare them. How many people are waiting for you? Where exactly are they? What gun do they have? At the same time, CTs use them so a T doesn't know when a rush of CTs will come through to grab the hostages.

Granted, this is worse with office with what I said about flashes: closed vicinity. In other maps, the smoke will take up alot of space, but there are still lots of areas where you can see past, but they are still being used for the exact reason they are implemented.

You could always take the boo-boo way out and change your settings to see through flashes and smoke.

I suppose it would be best not to.

I was thinking about significantly lowering my gamma though to reduce the brightness of the flash bangs. Though, I would still be unable to see just as much at least I would be able to stand the constant white screen.

And once again, just to reinforce this, but I'm only recommending this for the Office server, so any counter point involving a different map as a reason not to is rather silly, as other maps don't effect office. Just making that clear for future reference.
