Random Restarts....

Ever since I got my new CPU once every 2 or so days my pc screen randomly messes up and my pc is restarted. Today, I was broadcasting some live videos through xfire and it happened 3 times in a row...

I don't know if it's xFire having a bad reaction to the new CPU or if it's the CPU, I just refuse to believe something is wrong with the CPU. ~45C Idle 55-60 max load. Stock HSF.

I scanned for viruses already, and I just uninstalled xFire :(

It only happens during game, I'm not sure, but when I did a defragment over night and told it to turn off the PC when finish and I woke up the next morning, my pc was at it's desktop, it was restarted somehow, I have no idea if the pc randomly restarted or not, as far as I know it is only during games.

Any ideas what might be wrong :(

Go to: start>>settings>>control panel>>system>> Advanced (tab) >> Startup and Recovery - Settings

Untick the " Automatically restart" under system failure. This will make you atleast get a blue screen and, hopefully more information as to what's causing the problem. Likely a memory or driver problem would be my guess. Heat problems tend to lock up the computer or force it to shut down if your computer has temp monitoring, it shouldn't restart because of it (usually).

When you get the BSD look for a filename if there is one, this will likely be the driver that needs an update or possibly a roll back. May also need to install/update some motherboard drivers/bios

Just heard the same noise I heard when it''s restarted before, except this time it didn't restart and I could no longer hear anything in TF2, I closed TF2, opened an audio file and could hear stuff again... No blue screen.

I have the latest drivers for my audio... but I'll re-install them again I guess.

Got a blue screen during 3d mark test...

Since you said in the shoutbox you have an AMD Phenom II?

What board are you running it on? (socket type)

Well did you install the bios update? Most, if not all AM2+ mobo's require an update for AM3 to work properly.

Yes, 1.50, before I updated my CPU was unrecognized by the BIOS+OS, after i updated it was recognized. 1.50 is the latest and that is what I have.

Ok, after looking at the dump file...

You've got an error with your amdppm.sys driver. You're either using the wrong driver for your new CPU, or the new one is corrupted. It keeps throwing access violations.

Try installing some new drivers.

Any idea where I can find CPU drivers? AMD has none.. just little programs that monitor cpu usage and stuff...

Well, re-installed OS, Ran 3D Mark 05 and didn't crash this time. Hope it's not just by chance =\

Thanks for the help.

Main blue screen error codes ending in...
050 - incorrect memory timings / settings
101- incorrect vcore- not enough/too much
