question about steam

i am looking to pre order l4d 2 but before i do i have this question, in a previous account one of my siblings got onto my pc and decided he wanted to hack css so he installed some hack called kartoffel or something like that and he got me banned, so i was wondering i got rid of everything that have any relations to it but will my new account have any chance of getting banned, if so i won't get l4d2

Get a new steam account. You'll probably get vac banned later. Then again, he have used a cheat that valve hasn't detected yet. Just make sure that the hack is no longer on your computer.

Was your account VAC banned or were you just banned from servers?

And even if you remove what you can, there can be a few floating registry keys that may be enough to get you banned, so only thing I could recommend with certainty is doing a wipe. And since everyone is moving up to W7, you can kill two birds with one stone.

You will be fine. Hacks generally just hook into the system, and don't go toward the registry or leave traces. Even if it did, VAC dosen't pick up on that. It only detects if the same exe/bat is hooked in and you would have to play in another VAC server while using the hack again to get banned, they can't just ban you for owning the hack or having it on your computer. STEAM does nothing, it dosen't search your comp or anything when you aren't playing.

Were you already planning on buying W7? Because there is no need to do a clean sweep, your 100% fine if you read my post.

VAC still might ban you later. Bans lag behind by a couple weeks. A VAC bans all source games associated with your account even if you only cheated in one.

Well, if he used hacks again recently on his account, but im pretty sure he has a new one and he isnt hacking so that dosen't matter.
