Does anyone out there have any hard drive recovery tips from home? My discs are intact, it just will not boot. I have heard that I can buy an external case and drag/drop off of the old drive like a jump drive...any tips guys? My new drive is up and running, will only take me like a week to download all my games again...(sigh).

My main concern is my photos that I didn't have backed up on the dead drive....help me out guys, I don't want to have to pay for data recovery. If anyone knows the DOS commands to copy files from one drive to another without booting it completely PLEASE hook me up!

My wife is going to KILL me if I cannot get them back.....

From what I remember to copy from dos you navigate to the location of the file & then put in copy <filename> <destnation>

ex:
cd d:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Pictures

copy <filename> c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\

that would get you into your old pic folder and then move the picture folder off the slave drive (your old one) to the doc folder on your master drive (new hd)

Easiest way: Mail your drive to me ;) Data recovery is FREE to eGO members at my shop! I will provide you with all data via secure-web as well as returned HD and recovered-media.

Second Method: Connect your HD into your new machine. Then, take ownership of the 'old' drive via Windows OS. Copy-paste, then done!

Feel free to PM me for more info.
I know I'm lacking on info here, but at $60USD/15 mins normal charge.....forum crawlers...get over it. ;)
