A Word on Swearing

Yesterday I was playing on a non-eGO server to test out the new community maps and gameplay modes. Once I was on the server, I noticed that there was another eGO member present on the other team. I thought it was kinda funny, but went on playing. Howevever, once this persons team started getting rolled, he proceeded to swear and mock the other players. I was appauled. I told him that he shouldn't swear when he was wearing his tag, but continued to do so anyway. There was nothing I could do about it, seeing as how I have no admin access on non-eGO servers. What was the most shocking was the fact that he didn't even care about our reputation! Whats the point of joining a mature gaming community if you're just going to swear somewhere else and make the rest of us look like a bunch of fools?

I did not like what I saw yesterday, and I hope that you all can look at this and make sure that you are always displaying acts of maturity while playing, no matter which server you're on.

You bring up a good point. I joined eGO because it's a mature community and you normally never have to deal with the jackasses that make the games bad. I think something should be done about this. Do you happen to remember his Ramba? You could let one of the TF2 division leaders know who he was. This is a great clan and I enjoy playing with everyone because everything is kept under control and most of the people know how to react when situations like this occur. We also don't need people putting bad marks on our reputation. Just my thoughts though...

Yes, I do remember his name and what he said. If need be, I'll report it to the Division Leaders. This may have been a one time thing, but who knows.

Ramba: If you've got a concern about another eGO member's behavior, you can make a post in the Drop Box to let leadership know what happened.

That being said, I completely agree with ya. If you're that determined to swear and harass others in a virtual world (because game = serious business *rolls eyes*), take the tag off. I was talking with a pub player on our servers the other day and he told me something similar had happened to him from an eGO member (didn't tell me who ). I told him that in my experience, I've met nothing but stand-up people in eGO but it is a big clan and as such, there might be some folks who wear the tag just to wear the tag.

Honestly, I've never taken my tag off since I got it. I feel like I'll hold myself to a higher standard and I've been trash talked for being an eGO member by only one person since I started going off to other servers. I see no need to take it off but I guess sometimes there's a good reason to do so.

If you've got your tag on, you're representing eGO. If you're going to represent eGO, the server rules don't end simply because you're on someone else's server.

Ramba as a fellow member of eGO i would really appreciate you reporting it. It comes off badly on the clan and community if we do not allow swearing on our servers and then a member goes and does that while wearing their tag. Then it comes off that we are a clan of hypocrites which we are not. Reporting it would be the first step in the right direction.

basicly i feel the same as everyone else, although occasionally, when im playing somewhere that allows things that are not allowed by eGO, such as Micspamming, i'll take off my tag just because i dont feel like i should wear it and at the same time be either asking them to play something spesific on the mic, or maybe even play something myself, which i do very occasionally do.

esentially: if something against the rules is taking place on another server, take off your tag while your there...it makes us look bad

Like Lance's link says it's very simple. You wear our tags you follow our rules and the rules of any server you happen to find yourself on.

The best way we have of promoting our ideals is through our behavior. Leading by example.

The most harm that can be done to our organization is through our behavior. We do not accept double standards in our behavior when wearing our tags.

While on non-eGO servers we will not attempt to admin or infict our standards upon them. We will show what eGO is about by our behavior.

We will not recruiton non-eGO servers. When asked you can mention that you are with Edge Gamers Organization and drop it. We do not tolerate recruiting on our servers, we shall show people who run other servers the same courtesy.

It is unfortunate that this kind of thread needs to be made. But from time to time it does need to be made. Good job and thank you for the reminder.
