Spawn camping? You know nothing about spawn camping!

Spawn camping while losing isn't exactly something to brag about. It's lame.

Spawn camping b/c the other team doesn't use teamwork and wants to go a bunch of classes that don't help, well, that's getting what they deserve.

And now you know about spawn camping.

:glare:

This is one of the main reasons why I think Blackmesa sucks, bottlenecks. Camping the spawn doors or camping outside the middle doors from the rafters above the vents so that hardly anyone has a chance of reaching and killing you, it's just lame.

The game is about having fun, but it's hardly fun for others having to put up with people using sissy, strong-arm tactics like the ones Mesa promotes. I love the look of the map for the most part, but, for me, certain parts of the design too greatly add to a lack of balance between classes and ruin the gameplay. A few small changes to the spawn areas and one or 2 other places and it'd be a near perfect map. But, that aint happening, so I'll stick to playing a more balanced map like Egypt

To be fair, the spawn camping goes both ways, and many times its not this intense. And also, many of the stock maps aren't balanced. Dustbowl, Goldrush, 2fort, Junction, Steel, Egypt, Hydro, Hoodoo, and I'm probably missing some more. All are either severely stacked towards 1 team, have loads of bottlenecks, or both.

Hmmm... I'm not really a fan of any of those either, except Egypt... Egypt doesn't really offer any one class a clear advantage, and with the exception of the one stage's spawn exit there's really no definite strong-arming.

Defense gets exponentially easier as stages go on. And those maps I listed are a majority of the official maps, so your list of stock maps that don't fall under this category is small.

Well of course it gets easier to defend as it goes on, thats the point :P

And I agree, I think Mesa should have more exits or at least modified exits from the spawn. While it does have '3'. All three land you right in the same hallway (unless you are soldier/scout/demo and go up the vents in the right exit), and being that all three land you in the same spot, all three will still land you right in the line of fire of that kritzkrieg'd soldier/ubered heavy, or just regular soldier/heavy, or any combination really. Anyway point is it is really only two exits IMO, and one of those exits only three classes can access. Not that I dislike mesa, its really fun :)

While spawn camping in Mesa is bad... and it can be annoying... I have NEVER been on a team that takes a hit like has been posted here lately... like Goretex's 132-2 post... that is only caused by a lack of team effort and sheer stupidity. It doesn't take more than 3 or 4 demomen/soldiers to break apart spawn campers like this.

There are 4 ways out of spawn... 3 land in the same hall... 1 lands FAR away from those halls.... the secret to breaking intense spawn camping is in that 4th spot....

And yes... spawn camping hardly shows skill on the heavy's part... it shows more skill on the medics' ability to keep him alive...

When on the receiving end of the camping, it's not so much fun. But it rarely lasts more than the length of an Uber or two. THIS is spawn camping of EPIC proportions! :scared: I'm still laughing.

It's like having your mother in-law show up with 12 bags of luggage! Oh dear LORD is she planning on moving in!?

And yes, a few spies dropping, and a few soldiers and Demos going the long way, could have broken this. Of course it looks like there were two teams with completely different goals...

This made me laugh pretty hard. The best way to spawn camp is as dead ringer spy lol. I love it

This is why they put the vents on top of the spawn door. All you had to do was get a demo in the vent above their camp and it was over. But the red team was too busy winning to do that. Lol. It is nonetheless impressive to get a level three sg outside of the enemy spawn on Blackmesa. It would have been even more impressive to get a teleporter.

8 engies total. We stayed in spawn during the first two rounds so we could have as much time as possible.

We had teleporters around the corner. As for a demo in the vent above, that doesn't matter when you got pubstars and a mob of 10 people there. We had that covered anyways.
