Okay, I've been working on this for a while. What I need are several people who can talk and a few that can play. Ten (10) tops. Below is the story line, what do ya'll think
________________________
-------------------------------------
I'm looking for thoughts on this. I've got the next three scenes typed up, so let me know
-------------
Day of defeat: souce
=(eGO)=™featherfoot07
--------
Premice:
The 77th Infantry Division was deployed directly after the attack on Omaha Beach. They were dispatched to Normandy only ten hours
after the attack was reported a success and the allies had pushed through. The men of this division were deployed with three main
objectives in mind:
1. To clean up any stragglers
2. To assist any wounded allies
3. To move inland and help the main force attacking Normandy
---
MEN OF THE 77TH ID:
->Mst.Sgt Andrew Davis -- Commanding Officer/ Thompson
->Sgt. Roger Sanchez -- Thompson | five grenades | three flares
->Pvt. Henry Thatcher -- M1 Garand | four rifle grenades | three frag grenades
->Cpl. Matthew Jennings -- Sniper (SpringField)
->Cpl. James Baldwin -- B.A.R-man | five frag grenades
->Cpt. kenny Hansen -- Medic | enough supplies for a ten day campaign
---
the challenge that awaits them on the beaches of Normandy.
---------------
SCENE I:
[On a landing boat, six men stand at the ready. They grasp in one hand a battered, battle tested M1 Garand rifle. In the other hand
they grip the railing of their boat. The leader of the Dynasty, Mst.Sgt Davis, clenches in his hand his Thompson and his "If your reading
this..." letter. He keeps facing forward as long as he can. He knows he is leading his men to an almost certain death, and he can not face
them to tell them. He has to hide his fear with bravery, with courage - with the strenght to lead these young men into war...again]
-*-sounds of Distant MG42 bursts can be heard in sparatic intervals
-*-Explosions are heard and a few rock the landing craft
-*-Mutterings of the "Soldiers Prayer" are heard throughout the craft.
-*- first view is through the eyes of Pfc. Roger Sanchez
-&-Sanchez looks about and sees his brothers, looking at each of them for several moments a piece - remembering their faces. He knows
very well that, like all of the battles the Dynasty head into - this could be the last time he sees them.-&-
(takes hand off railing and takes off helmet. In the mesh inside he removes a picture and a letter. The picture is tattered and worn,
sweat soked and blood stained. He knows the image well though, itis of his fiance Jannet Clemmens. He had proposed the day before he was
shipped out. The letter he clenched in the same hand was addressed to her, "Jannet, If you see this...." THe tears blurred his eyes before
he could finish the rest. He looks up to his right and sees Pvt. Henry Thatcher Saying the soldiers prayer. He puts up his letter and
picture and joins in)
SANCHEZ AND THATCHER: God, Give me steady hands to aim my rifle with today. Give me true aim to eliminate the enemy that would slay me without
second thought. Allow me one more day on this earth so that I may work to end this war. Give me a pure heart to continue on with. Help my brothers
see true to these as well and guide us to victory today. In Gods Name I pray, A-men.
Thatcher: (putting his helmet back on) Hey Sanchez, You hear back from jannet yet?
Sanchez: (wiping his eyes) No, But we have shipped out for the island so I'll probly get it within the next day or two.
( Davis turns around to address the group. He swallows hard before begining, tucking a cross and his dog tags into his shirt)
Davis: Okay men, The first wave has cut most of the resistance down and carved their own path. They have suffered heavy losses and even more wounded. The numbers are not even close to in so don't bother. Our job is to go in a clean up any loose ends before heading three clicks northeast
inland to help the 101st. They dropped in early this morning and are being pushed back towards Donner.
(More out of pure instinct than anything else it seems, He stops obruptly right there. He drops his rifle and lowers his head. He is not crying or
praying - He is simply bowing his head. THe other five follow suit. Their moment of silence is ended by a rocket inches from the front of the landing
craft ramp.)
-&-VIEW SWITCHES TO THE EYES OF medic kenny henson-&-
DAVIS: GET OFF THE BOAT!
(Gun fire erupts from a leftward embankment and grenades beging to fly over the seawall. the 77th snap into action)
JENNINGS: Mg and at least two snipers dug in, 11 o'clock!
DAVIS: Sanchez, Thatcher! Head up left flank, get a damn position on that Mg.
Sanchez: YES SERGENT
(together)
Thatcher: YES SERGENT
DAVIS; Baldwin, get set up behing the closest tank-stopper you can find and give covering fire for Thatcher and Sanchez!
BALDWIN: YES SERGENT
DAVIS: Jennings, get over by Baldwin and take out some of that resistance.
BALDWIN: YES SERGENT! (turning to look back) SERGENT!
( Davis has been hit in the arm. He hasn't noticed it yet and is still giving orders. Baldwin makes a split second descision to prolong telling his CO that he is injured. After all, he does want to survive this attack)
DAVIS: Hansen, get out here!
(cpt kenny Hansen rushes off the craft with his medkit and canteen. He is a small man, maybe 5'3". His helmet, even though the smallest size, is 2 sizes to big for him. He is shaking and scared to
death)
HANSEN(with a "cracking"/"shaking" voice)Y-y-y-y-y-y-es s-s-ir.
DAVIS: DAMNIT HANSEN! Look at me, do I look afraid?
HANSEN: Negitive sergent.
DAVIS: Good, because I'm scared *censored*.
(Hansen looks at his CO. He sees for the man he has followed through campaigns through Italy, France, Germany, and even Poland now was just
another man like he was. That he is just a man, a man who is just as scared as he is. Full of courage and determination to win this war and go
home to his wife and child)
-&- Hansen tightens strap on helmet
HANSEN: Sir, yes sir! Ready for duty!
DAVIS: (whispering to hansen) Good job son. (back to normal volume) STATUS? WHATS GOING ON OUT
THERE.
RADIO(THATCHER): SERGENT, we're in position to take out the enemy MG. I can't get a clear shot.
RADIO(SANCHEZ): I've got the shot, hold on.
(a brief pause in the sparatic gun fire happens. Two heavy shots ring out)
RADIO(DAVIS): THATCHER! SANCHEZ! Where are ya'll?
JENNINGS: Snipers down Sergent. Two of them - left bank. It looks like the MG is down too, they did it Sergent.
RADIO(DAVIS): THATCHER! SANCHEZ! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON UP THERE?
RADIO(SANCHEZ): Looking at you now sir, top of the embankment. We had to get into posistion which meant radio silence for bit there.
Sorry sir, we're ready to push on. We were only met with light resistance which we cleaned up easily. Move up, oh - MG down sergent, do we
want it?
BALDWIN: U-RAH we want the MG, bring the damn thing with us!
RADIO(DAVIS): Sounds like we're toating an MG gentlemen, c'mon lets get up that bank there.
