l4d vs l4d2

Which do you think is better l4d or l4d2?Explain why

L4D2. Because to me its just L4D but with added features and even more fun.

L4D has nothing that L4D2 hasnt. Except Zoey. And the L4D1 campaigns.

Sometimes tho when playing L4D2, it feels like L4D had more of a dark and "realistic" feel, but it might just be because of the fact the zombis didnt EXPLODE in to a bloody mess, and the all around more dark and sometimes scarier feel.

Uh, l4d2 was made completely by valve, they only finished off the first from someone else.

However, the first one is much more atmospheric and creepy. The only improvement is gameplay (in most areas - bashing is the exception). Also the community is better on the first, largely.

Turtle Rock had the right idea for plot and gameplay.

The new one is... okay. It just doesn't FEEL quite right.

Left 4 Dead 2 hands down. The predecessor feels lacking in content and gameplay compared to its sequel.

I'm liking L4D2 a lot more, versus is more fun because there's more variety of infected so I DON'T HAVE TO PLAY BLOODY HUNTER EVERY DAMN TIME. The new weapons and ammo piles also give the game more variety. The dev team did a great job looking at what made #1 great and maximizing it. It may not bring a big new meal to the table, but its got a great dessert and on the whole the main course is a lot tastier. I also like how the campaigns actually follow each other, and how the characters actually kinda have a bit more interaction. Ellis for the longest time actually annoyed me though, but I've gotten used to him. I like Nick though just because Nick is disturbingly like a clean shaven version of me without the Brit accent. Even that awesome suit even if he does let on to the fact that its probably a bit more authentic and expensive than mine.

Not always true, Age of Empires II is better then Age of Empires III, ALL the command and conquer games are better then CnC3, and Red Alert 3 is crap compared to Red Alert 1 and Red Alert II.

that is 100% not true. Sequels are not ALWAYS better than the original and many cases can be made that MW1 was better than 2 but thats not what this thread is about so lets not get this locked. Ever hear of Final Fantasy X-2? The sequel to Final Fantasy X? Yeah well about 99% of people that played both will say the first one was better. I have a lonnng list of sequels that were not as good but im not going to list them here.

L4D2 is quite nice though, except that it doesn't offer any city/warehouse maps like in L4D with Dead Air and No Mercy, which I enjoyed a LOT.

I think the setting has a lot to do with it. A LOT of L4D2 is set during the day so the survival/horror elements are a little lessened by the day light as opposed to night when you can only see what your flashlight shows you

not every sequel is better, sure might have prettier packaging a few more bells and whistles etc but it comes down to gameplay/storyline and of course personal preferences.

L4d2 has some better graphics, some new weapons, infected etc, but as previously posted l4d 1 does seem a little darker and imo i have more of a fondness for the original , well because its the original, more invested in the characters from the first too as they seemed to have more depth and personal involment in each other etc and it was totally mindblowing experiece when it first came out, now l4d2 can only try to outperform in graphics etc, which it does well but i would get the first one before getting the 2nd installment in the series.

So again its a matter of preference.,


btw i am already missing the original after spending time in the 2nd

ya red alert 1 is like STILL one of the BEST EVER rts games i've every played. too bad it isn't compatible with windows xp. though i guess i might be able to get it somewhere if i really really wanted.....now i kinda really really want to.
anyway, i was thinking the same question. i want to get into l4d but was wondering which would be best to get. i figured l4d2 would be better because i heard it was basically l4d with just a little extra.
might not be worth getting l4d2 if already having l4d, but i don't and nor does the OP so ya...is the common census l4d2??
