i need a new video card.
i dont know much about them. alls i know is i have to get agp.
any recommendations?

if you need to get AGP, save up and get a new computer. no sense in "upgrading" in very old tech

AGP cards are so expensive because seriously, who uses that anymore (no offense). holidays are coming, just ask for a new computer or money towards one. it is NOT worth it to upgrade your current rig

spending money on an agp card is a terrible idea now. save until you can afford a new proc, mb, ram, and gpu (350-400)

I have to disagree with those who say an AGP card is not worth it. If you've got a nice rig that uses AGP then go for it, but only if it's a NICE rig. Otherwise, you may as well build a new computer, since an ancient PC wouldn't even be able to run these cards at all.

It really is a joyful experience to squeeze just that much more life out of an old rig, and AGP can still haul if you need it to. If you're going to be playing games in the range of these cards, and have a processor, Motherboard, and PSU to support them, it's probably a bit cheaper to buy a $120 card than to build a $700 system.

You gotta be sure you can run your new card though, since the more powerful AGP cards have some pretty high standards in relation to AGP systems, as their age.

well i have no job so i cant afford building a new machine so this is the easiest way for me. and i think i found an agp card for me.

Hi RyanSmile,

Can you post your Rig Specs so we can better help you choose a video card that hopefully will not be bottlenecked by other parts of your system ?

Thanks!

processor: intel pentium 4 2.4 ghz
ram: 1.5 gigs ddr1
video card: ati radeon 9800 pro
hard drive: 80 gigs
idk if theres anything else you need to know so if anything else lemme know.

p4 @ 2.4 ghz will be a major bottleneck

if you really want an AGP card and you only play older Valve games (CS:S TF2 DoD:s HL2 etc) then i would get this:

if your PSU can handle it

speaking of psu how many watts is yours?

It is Zalma 400 Watt PSU I know because he is my IRL friend XD I'm helping him with the 2.4ghz I'm going to try to get reach 3.0ghz on it so yea Wish me luck.

hmm i could be wrong but i looked at couple zalma 400W psu's and would 18amps really be enough for a x1950pro?

actually i have an ati radeon x800, i just gotta dig it out. if its agp, ill just give it 2 ya. it still works, but never really took advantage of it. all u gotta do is take care of the s&h & its urs. i really dont care bout the profit since a ex-friend literally gave it to me & chose never to speak 2 me ever again.

i think u outta worry on the amps cuz 18 is bare min for anything. unless its a 4670 i think.
