Ipod Touch Help

Ok folks, Frazar just got a new Ipod Touch... but i have a problem

How do i connect to the internet without Wifi? I dont have Wifi in my house or anywhere in my city... so how do i get internet from my computer to my ipod?

You Don't! Its not possible to share internet through a cable, and I really am not sure why you would want to. Also I highly doubt the there is no wifi anywhere where you live. Starbucks? Mcdonalds? Hell, even walmart has free wifi.

You can't get online without wi-fi.
If you own a laptop with a with a wireless card, you can try to create an ad-hoc wireless connection and enable internet sharing, but that method has failed for me when I'm in other places.
A wireless router is a good investment in the long run (gotta have my Facebook and YouTube app in the bathroom ;]) and you can get a decent one for pretty cheap too!

Not to promote D-Link or anything, but this is the router I use. Not too expensive and my ping is only about 7 when I play on Turbine with this router anywhere (home and dorm). Just make sure you set up the multiband (A/B/G/N) because the iPod Touch doesn't read N networks.

What for? Just use the stock USB to transfer music/files.

As for the internet, as someone said, you NEED WIFI to have the internet.

I'm having a problem understand why you want to do this in the first place? The internet is not better on the Itouch? Especially compared to a real computer(even if it is windows) No app requires internet to run, although a lot of apps do use the internet (e.g. maps search the restaurant thing, etc.) So there is no real reason to have internet on the device if it has to be wired, hence why apple made it on wifi. Thats like have a cell phone being able to be plugged into the wall or have a bluetooth head set that can be wired, there is no reason for it.

I wouldn't call it a flaw,I wouldn't really want to use my itouch's internet if I must plug it into my computer to use the internet, thats not very useful, I rather use my computers internet. Obviously if I have to connect the I touch to the computer the computer cant be very far away therefore I would just use the computer and its browser. I mean the itouch has awesome internet but any computer is much better.

How is this considered a flaw? The Ipod Touch is a PORTABLE device. Maybe Frazar does not have wifi, but wireless internet is still pretty common nowadays in households and public areas.

well if it had internet it would make getting the apps, dling them, getting music from itunes and stuff a whole lot easier because i could simply do it from the device. Instead of having to go to itunes on my computer, download everything, wait, sync to my ipod, wait some more and then be done. If i could just Download everything to the touch and walk away I would not have to worry about that second pesky downtime.

Ya actually I got an ipod touch as well, but I got a bigger issue. Mine doesnt seem to want to synch to any computer (Im on my moms desktop & I was on my sis's messed up laptop, which both have itunes, but moms desktop never recognized it & it has the latest itunes & my sis's laptop said that the apple service device wasnt started, even tho it showed that it was started in the events area). Not sure if the guys @ the Apple store can fix the issue, but so far, im not impressed. Also feel like i took my mom for some crazy $$.

make sure you are downloaded the right Itunes... i had the same problem when i downloaded the 32 bit and found out i needed the 64. If that doesnt help, call them . Apple is really cool with that stuff

Thats a shame, the ipod touch is virtually useless without internet no apps or anything and u dont get to use any of its potential as a PMP

oh i know which version to get since my whole family uses the 32 bit version of itunes. anyways im gonna take it by the apple store & hopefully theyll take care of the issue.

well thankfully got my issue fixed. interestingly enough, i used my sis's laptop to activate my ipod touch, so its good to go. now to find myself a good case 4 my ipod touch...
