So I've thought that the max I could reach on my processor was ~3.2GHz because of my memory running at too high of speeds, so then I lowered my memory down to 200MHz, then cranked up the HT clock to 250. So now I'm sitting at a comfortable 3.5GHz with 667MHz memory, and a 2500MHz HT Link. I think I could push it a little further, but lower the HT Link multiplier.
Oh, and my temps are pretty cool for stock air cooling.
26C idle and load temps never go past 40C

Care to share your OC'ing experience(s)?

running AMD Phenom II x4 940 BE. Stock 3.0 Ghz.

Upped multiplier to 20x to get 3.8 ghz. Ran at 38 under heavy duress.
Upped voltage .2 and achieved >4 ghz but @ 50 celsius (air cooled).'

I am fine at 3.8 so I stuck there.

Nice.
I just tried to get 3.6, but it was unstable and crashed. I'm fine with 3.5 for now, but once I get my new mother board, the gloves are off lol

Breakpoint. Do you think it would be possible to help me OC my AMD 64 x2 4000+ up to 2.8/2.9? I'm getting an XFX HD 5770 + Antec 650w power supply and I need to oc the processor to prevent bottle-necking. I have a tuniq tower 120mm custom fan on my cpu along with thermal paste. I have a little experience overclocking but it would be a ton of help to get it done faster and more correctly if I had the help of someone with some experience. I won't be doing this for about a week but I would really appreciate it. Please tell me your thoughts.

what are the stock speeds?
And honestly, I'm new to the overclocking, so I don't know if you could.

Stock speeds are 2.3 per core. I know I can. Please tell me your thoughts. From the sounds of it you know more than I do and I know this is doable. Perhaps we can speak over the phone and go over the bios settings together and see what we can do. I would really appreciate it. Here is all of what I'm going to be using that will take into effect of the overclocking:

Also if you look under the newegg reviews for my CPU multiple people state it is possible to get it up to 2.8 even on the stock setup. I have new thermal paste and that custom heatsink/fan. I'm sure it's doable.

The processor you linked and the speeds you say are different. Do you have the 4400+ maybe? That is what my brother has, so I may be able to help both you and him.

Oh sorry. I have the one I linked. You're right it is different. I had it OC'ed to 2.3ghz before due to problems I was having but it's stock 2.1ghz. I have the 4000+, the one I linked. So you think you could help? I would appreciate it so very much. If you ever need anything just ask and I'll see if I can help.

Running a core 2 quad q9400 stock 2.66 GHz. Usually switch between overclocking to 3.2 or 3.4 GHz on air, with normal temps around 2-3 degrees C above the rooms temps at idle and maxing out at around 35-40 degrees C under load (got to love a great aftermarket heatsink inside an Antec 900 case!). Have gotten it up to 3.6, but the memory starts to have issues there, so don't generally do it.

Okay. Do you know what whats the highest your HT Link can go? A better question, do you know what HT version you have? Such as HT 2.0. What is your multiplier max out at? Such as 10.5.
You can PM or add me on steam

I'm on my laptop at my parents house right now. I wont be back to my computer until the 27th. You mean PM you now? Do you have aim or msn?

I believe my multiplier max is 10.5 when I set it on auto. Other than that the highest is 10 when it's not on auto. I'm not sure what the HT version is or the highest it can go. I'll have to check bios when I get to my house on the 27th.

I have msn, but don't use the IM'ing things or whatever. Just add me on steam or something.
EDIT: And for the HT version, it might say on your physical motherboard.

Alright I will. When I'm messing around in the BIOS I wont be able to message you via steam or anything. It's my only computer at my house I can use. This laptop I'm on is my parents extra one and they let me use it when I visit. Is there anyway we can talk via phone while the procedure is going on? It will be a lot easier and faster that way. If you want also I can PM you my number when I'm getting ready to go into the bios on the 27th/28th and you can private your number and call me if you're really worried. I just want to get this thing done and you are nice enough to help. You don't have to worry about privacy or anything.

I suppose I could call you. I would rather talk via Ventrillo, though. Can't borrow a friends laptop or something for a day?

I could ask my roommate if I could use his laptop. I think he said it was broken though. If worse comes to worse I'll message you on steam or PM you on here with my number. I really appreciate it BreakPoint. I just want to get this thing done as it has been haunting me for quite some time now. I have to dust out my entire case, dissemble my case and reapply the thermal compound to my processor, reassemble my computer, then go into bios and configure the OC'ing options. Not to mention install the videocard/power supply when it arrives from newegg. I've got a lot ahead of me and it's been kind of plaguing my mind lol. I really appreciate the help. I can take care of all but the OC'ing on my own. Like I said if you ever need anything don't hesitate to ask and I'll see what I can do.

Go ahead and add me on steam right now. It's kakkarot4sho or just find it through my profile on here. I can accept your add through the steam community website for now and then have you on my list when I get back to my house.

I just did all of that yesterday. Well, minus the new graphics card and power supply. But I'm getting a new mother board and memory for Christmas, and I can't wait to overclock my processor even more.

Nice. I'm dreading the work but I know it needs to be done and I'll be super satisfied when it's all done and feel accomplished. Haha.

Why do you dread it? I love taking apart my computer.

Added you

I don't know. Probably because I dread anything that requires effort. Plus I know I'm going to get frustrated lol. Something usually goes wrong or there is usually a little object that always prevents me from achieving my goal when it comes to my computer. Hopefully that's not the case this time. A Christmas miracle must be performed so that nothing goes wrong and everything goes smooth.

I accepted your add. I won't be able to message until I get home. What time is it over there? You pulling an all-nighter?

It is currently 2am. No, not an all-nighter, just insomnia :/
