Internet problem

When I am connected to the router my internet is fine but i time out when playing games ingame. So I tried connecting straight into the modem, it says limited or no internet connectivity(window 7) and a yellow triangle.

I have another computer connected to modem ---> switch ----> computer, that works fine but when i take the cable of this computer and plug it into my other computer it says Limited or no internet connectivity..

HELP!!

how long ago did this start? have you tried another ethernet cable? also look into drivers for the ethernet port. you never know. btw, whats the os on the other computer? if theyre different os's, then that may be part of the issue.

It could very well be the firmware in your router aswell.

When you disconnected the router from the cable modem and plugged your PC into the cable modem, did you power off the cable modem for a few seconds? If not, that's your problem. Your cable modem is caching your ARP table and it doesn't refresh until it's powered off. Whenever you plug a different device into a cable modem, whether it's another PC or another router, you have to power cycle the cable modem in order for it to talk to the new device.
