Opinions needed!

I got a 8800GTS at the moment, and feel the need to upgrade. Any good cards out there? $100-300?

depends on your needs. You play newer games? or just want to max out older ones. For me, i have no need for dx11, so i went with a ATI 4890 for 149 after MIR(and that's cdn). To me, for the games i play, that's the best bang for the buck i could get(IMO).

It's really about what you want from the card, then start looking at the ones that can do what you are after, then start looking at reviews and stuff.

If it's a G92, you already have a pretty awesome card... now if it's the other 8800GTS models, there are lots of new options.

Im going from a 8800GT to a GTX 260 its pretty much just about doubling my gaming power. since the 8800GT has 119 pipelines the GTX 260 has 216 so as close to getting awesome as i can get =P

For $300 you can get an ATI 5850 which is faster than an Nvidia GTX 285 while also costing like ~$70 less

For ~$160 you can get an ATI 5770 and get performance about equal to a GTX 260 if not better once you OC for about ~$40 cheaper...also newer tech and DX11 support

There is no point in getting an current Nvidia GPU right now, they are overpriced and slower than the competition.
If you plan on waiting for the new Fermi GPU's to come out........expect to wait a while as they said they wont come out till ATLEAST March but im pretty sure htey will definitely be delayed a bit again........i also have a feeling they are going to cost a crap load of money as usual, they will no doubt be faster than the ATI 5850/5870 tho but who knows by how much and if its gonna be worth the premium

I'd wait. It's only like 2-4 months. I've got a 8800 GT OC'd, and I can run basically all games just fine.

Thanks for the help guys really appreciate it. I think I might as well wait for the new nvidias I never knew video cards get outdated and new tech comes out so quick!

That's technology for you. Once you get something "new," before you know it, it'll be outdated. You basically have to get something decent and settle for it.

Agreed.. hopefully the new fermi's GPU is something to settle for..

lol yea tech is like that.........your card is fairly old tho, 2 generations behind soon which is about the time you should upgrade if your card is good.......like if you have a 4870x2 you can just wait till the next gen but most people like to upgrade once theres something new which is every like 2 years about for graphic cards
