So, it's been a while before Valve released a pretty big update for TF2 fixing bugs, and some weapon balances. It's good, yes. But TF2 is ruined for me just because they put a limit on viewmodel_fov.

Below is an excerpt from the patch notes regarding viewmodel_fov.

● Added min/max values to viewmodel_fov convar to match the settings in the slider

Really? Was this really necessary to limit viewmodel_fov? The maximum value in which you can use is 70. And IMO, all the weapons on my screen look huge, and I am so used to using viewmodel_fov's of 90-100. Is anyone else disappointed about this part of the patch that was recently released? Everything is so huge, and it's almost as bad as Left 4 Dead 2's.

This is the weapon's field of view (higher value makes you be able to see more of your weapon, and not appear so huge) as opposed to actual Field of View (which is locked from the beginning). This had NO real advantage at all, since everyone can use it. Why even put a limit on it? I don't care if I see my arms floating in front of me.

Most pointless technical change in TF2 history. Ever.

No, they put a limit on it now. The minimum is 54 (which looks horrible IMO), and the highest is 70 degrees (which still looks too huge). When I went in game when the patch went live, my viewmodels were huge..And they were at 70. I've tried putting in "viewmodel_fov 100" in console, but it wouldn't work.

They've locked it to 70. And quite honestly, it looks horrible.

Less QQ.

Seriously.

Big woop a bit more of your screen is taken up.

"R_drawviewmodel 0"

OH LOOK - No viewmodels.

Have fun kids ;-)

I'm used to it being at the max for the slider, I didn't even know until this update that there was another way of doing it :P, IMO the max on the slider looks fine, but I would like it to be a bit higher.

I cannot play properly if I do not have something to blame for my failyness.

I'm with you kunai, this sucks and messes the game up for me.

Are you actually serious, or are you just trying to be a troll? Looking at your sig, I determine that you are the latter.

Useful for only the Scout, midget. However, I need to actually see my rocket being loaded, and at that instant when the Soldier puts a rocket in the launcher, I can fire again. Having no weapon models won't help me much as Soldier here.

See my response to your first quote.

Well then, surely larger weapons = better4failing.

DUN DUN DUUUUN.
They're cosmetic. Why did Valve even bother taking them away? I'm so used to having a viewmodel_fov of over 85, and I don't remember the last time in which I've used 70. So it's gamebreaking for me personally, and numerous other people who are affected by this update (and I can say a pretty decent amount of people are affected by it on the Steam forums).

I was being serious. I get used to a certain thing, now it's all jacked up and will take awhile to get used to. So QQ i must.

my sig only applies after 5pm.

I agree, putting a min/max on that is dumb. If they really have a problem with high fov's, they should make a console command for servers to either enable or disable the min/max.

Sir, I apologize for misjudging you there. :>

Or at least raise the cap of the viewmodel_fov. Either one would make me happy.

hmm... I never even knew about this feature though, so it can't be all that important ;)
sometimes you just have to get used to some things, like the eyelander blocking your entire screen if you swing it, pyros spamming flames, people running very annoying in front of you

You win the most moronic post of the day award. Congrats!

Err, why? People don't want to see as much taking up their screen, see to it they have nothing but the HUD there. Also, I'm sure with as many talented people here you could get one of 'em to whip up a new custom viewmodel, that is the equivalent to viewmodel_1001203012030 or whatever you want.

Will that stop all your QQing? Or do you need your blankie?

To be honest I'd never even heard of this viewmodel_fov thing before. Can someone explain what it is and what the problem is with it now?
