After finding out that both of my 4870s went bad (crossfire connector shorted them both out...) I decided to buy a 5870. I can't wait to get it! I would have liked to have gotten an Asus one, but those had to come with a pack, so I got VisionTek.
im gonna wait tho until price drops a good bitI was going to do that, until I realized that I needed one now.you should be happy........the 5870 is a great card and has overclocking potential while delivering a better minimum FPS because its a single card over the CFX 4870 i believe, atleast according to benchmarks
im looking into 5970's myselfim gonna wait tho until price drops a good bit
I was going to do that, until I realized that I needed one now.
Will all 5000 series be crossfire compatible?you can just crossfire in a 5970 in the future and have a Tri-Fire going, thats the best scaling you will get, better than Quad-fire which sucks supposedly
You will need to overclock the 5970 tho to 5870 speeds or more though that shouldn't be hard to do since they are meant to be overclocked.
Will all 5000 series be crossfire compatible?
I personally think that the 5970 will beat any 300 card.I'm getting me a 300 series
I personally think that the 5970 will beat any 300 card.
And no I did not know that the 5970 was 2 5870s. I would have thought it would have been a 5870x2, like all the others were.
ahh okay......many do not know its a 5870x2 just different name -.-
the 5970 will be faster than single gpu card by Nvidia.....i don't think it will be faster than all the Fermi cards, if Nvidia comes out with a dual-gpu card, i doubt the older 5970 will beat it......the Fermi single-gpu cards will certainly be faster than current ATI 5850/5870 cards tho no doubt about it, won't be faster than a 5970 tho and i have a feeling the Fermi cards are gonna be hella expensive
Dude, you know they are gonna drop a single card solution that beats out the 5970, maybe not by price tho !
I already have an i7 920.I have a 5870, and I have to say that it is one sweet card. It easily achieves 2-3x the framerate that my old 9800 GTX+ was capable of.
Just make sure that you compliment it with a fast Quad core (either Core i5/i7 or AMD Phenom II X4) for stability and futureproofing. The newest batch of cards from AMD and Nvidia absolutely love Quad Core CPU's.
Nvidia's high end single GPU card will be as fast as or faster than the 5970 in almost all scenarios. It will retail with a price of $600
You just can't argue with 512 shaders @ 1500+Mhz, along with 384-bit GDDR5.

Those are fake.
PewPew, there is no source for the performance or price.
The specs have been out for a while though, And that's enough to hazard a guess.
