the trick with buying a premade PC isnt finding the right one it is making the right one. You have to customize it to fit yor needs and basically neevr ever trust that they automatically did it. They automatically choose what eevr makes them the most money.

You dont have a day to put it together?

I dont think anyone can answer this question without knowing the price, how much you want or are willing to spend, and especially what you expect out of the computer. I know tons of people who would think this was a great computer and tons who would hate it. You have to let us into your world man.
 
ok im willing to spend around 800-1000. i would like it to be good for gaming and a little photoshop. and thats what my dad said. idk. so any ideas? and where can i go to have one custom built?
 
you can sustomize any pc from big brands. looks for a buttont hat says 'customize'.
Also, there will sbe local places (sometimes they are as shady as big brands) but sometimes they are not,... like me :)

If that is your price range then just buyt he one your looking at. You arent going to find any better for the money. 800-1000 is what is consittered 'a home computer' that can do a little of everything. A 'gaming computer' usually starts at 1800. So, just be aware that you wont find a computer that will play crysis at 2048x1536 with 16x and 8x in that price range. ut I think you will behappy with the one above.

After it gets older you can get a new video card and more RAM. that would help. But I think that for now, honestly, it may not be worth getting. It depends on what you are upgrading FROM. you may not now the difference so it seems like a reasonable buy.
 
Lolz but building PCs is signifigantly cheaper!

I have a custom builtI made myself:

AMD 64 6000+ 3.0GHz Dual Core
2Gigs Ram
8600GT
800W BFG Powersupply
300 GB HD
And I think I've only put like.... maybe $500 into it. Granted thats a $150 PSU, $120 video card, $160 CPU, and like $100 worth of ram, and $70 HD. Not to mention mobo, optical drive, case, etc.

Besides... I built that PC in the late afternoon. You can't say you don't have time to build it if you are going to be buying a PC to game. IF you are gaming.. you have time. It takes like..... an hour to get it all together and maybe another 2-3 hours to config with Windows, get Steam, install Spybot and AVG and all the apps you need.



So.... :/.


And for the record... you normally get 3 year warranty on all the parts in a PC. Dell gives you what... 90 days to a year, if your lucky?

And they always sell their gaming PCs with like... the most crap scale video cards to go with it. I work at a PC store with my father.... and we got a PC with a like AMD 6000+ dual core 3.0GHz processor... a processor that can burn a DVD while playing TF2 (ive tested) without lag.... paired up with 2 gigs of ram... and get this. They put a fricken like.. 7600GT.

Its like cmon... whats the point? You get severe lag with a 7600GT in TF2 alone.

Mindful - you may want to look into the posability that encouraging people to do ilegal things on these forums is against eGO policy as well as a potential way for us to get in trouble.

You always have to buy a legal copy of windows. My lawyer told me i have to say that. But honestly, what someone does with their friend is one thing and i dont want to know about it. However, you should never expliticly say - in writing that will be saved for all to see - that doing ilegal things is ok. If I am not mistaken, you were required to post your real name and location in johnT's office were you not? Shouldnt be that hard for some fancy lawyers to reverse your IP and sue you like a 12 yeard old RIAA defendant.

plus you can save $100 without pirating software by building yourself. (Sometimes). the bigger you go, the mo money you save. Nothing like building a $5000 computer for only $2750
But by the same token, sorry, you are just not going to build anything as cheap as the $299 dell. I dont build computers lower than a cirtain price because in order to do so you have to cut corners and i dont want my name associated with anything but quality. Also understand that when you build a computer for other people you cant 'salvage parts' so you have to buy everythign new and you also arent just putting together a tower you need everything including speakers monitor everything down to mouse pad. that stuff can add up fast. I think i have strayed from the topic so i will call it quits,....... here

In no means did I say that. What I meant was that if you have your old PC with a Windows XP sticker.... you can take that sticker and use it on the new build.

Windows will actually validate and work. Its not illegal. DONT HATEZ ME :P

Although, your post above makes a valid point - and an extremely amazing attempt at a save,... i am going to fight off my inclinatino to give you kudos for the glorious save and instead point out that weather you build or buy from dell you will have bought a legit copy of windows. It is required to buy a legit copy of windows to build a PC. that copy just doesnt have to be new.

Plus who says he wants XP? or for that matter that he doesnt want to give awya, sell or otherwise keep xp on his old PC?
But hey, even if you did want to scrape the sticker off - or even less work - use the old case and also use the copy of windows already owned, if you are to try to reactivate that same key on a different hard drive and a different motherboard it will fail.

This results in about a 10-15 minutes phone call to microsoft (as long as you um,... do some totally legal 'social engineering' and tell them that you are reactivating it for the first time and answer all their questions right) otherwise it is mor eliek a 2 hour phone call to microsoft because god forbid they can pay those indians enough money to actually comprehend that it is legal to move licences to new hardware when the old motherboard got hit by lightning and everything else is the same - and then not understanding they tell you over and over 'you cannot intall windows in two different computers' and then you say 'but its the same computer' and they say 'one computer cannot have two motherboards' and holy crap minimum wage is wicked awsome yeah!

i mean honestly, could you immage in like - the suicide hotline hired people that had no clue what they were talking about so if you say something that isnt on their list they just tell you that they cant help you? yeah - i bet that would go real well.

look them up then shop around
just cause you buy components doesnt mean theyll work together or as well as they should
 
You got that from HP didn't you! You got the better version than the M8100N I have. YOu have the the one with a Q6600, I have an AMD Athlon X2 5800+ (2.8Ghz dual-core).
 
LOL, yer rig is "overkill" head shot. its more like a server than a PC... still its excellent.

i think yours is like future proofed for 3 years, well just my opinion

i say upgrade yer VC to geforce 8800gt and buy a trust worthy psu brand, like antec/silverstone, should be atleast 1000watts... if you ever go for teh 8800gt

the better the videocard, the better the gaming experience... but the more it becomes painful to the pocket and to electric bills and to the computer power supply

in the end, its all up to you to decide

That computer, is not overkill or like a server. How is it that you think that to be true?

Also, you do not need a 1000W power supply because of an 8800gt. Not for any reason present in the system specs, or any that are not yet present short of a mini Air Conditioning unit or something. You know what grinds my gears? When people tell other people that they need 1000W power supplies. That may someday be true but do any of the many people hwo make such a reccomendation have any idea how many watts or volt amps their computer tower uses? I guess not.
 
but his proc is quad-core, and i said "IF" he ever goes for the 8800gt upgrade... plus he has "3GB" mems which are ddr2, i think even a 750watt psu cannot handle that much load. i only stressed for 1k WATT psu so he has room for upgrades.

what i am just trying to say is, everything is like give and take in making a "gaming rig", make a single mistake in hardware config... and you wont even tap the potential of the rig, thus wasting yer hard earned cash. and when it comes to psu requirements, its always tricky.

all i want to say to you head shot is "be VERY careful on what you wish for, because you might just get it"
