Linux

I agree-- had problems when i was running it B4 the official release. but now it runs PERFECT. and vista is still un-reliable and slow

um, i doubt that im a computer tech at a computer store, i do these things thousands and thousands of times i doubt if done anything wrong

i just might go back to 95' or 2000, but i herd Microsoft is faissing out the 2000

I don't know any computer tech's that consider using either Win95 or Win2k, are you sure that's your title?

Ubuntu (a Debian desktop) would be my choice, hands down. It's also quite friendly with WINE (W.indows E.mulator).

yes i am, i only have *on disc at the moment* 95, 98, 2000, XP and Vista ultimate 64bit

95 and 98 wont even run on most new hardware it wont see your sata drives.

and i think win95 can olny run and i386, i486, and i586 not i686 which most new processors are.

i have never experimented with it, were i work if some one brings in a computer thats older than 8 years we usually try and hook them up with a great deal other than that we dont mess with anything lower than XP so i dont have that much background info with it

well whatever windows you're using you should upgrade to 64bit to use all 4 gigs of ram, but being a 15 y/o computer tech you know that right?

in some cases, it depends on what build you have and, for custom machines like mine it has a bit of trouble with

I have a custom computer and Windows 7 itself has never crashed for me. Only specific applications and they're usually beta and alpha versions that I'm testing. Sometimes my firewall will block and application and cause it to crash, but that's not Win 7 related either. Not to be rude, but I've never heard anyone say it's less stable when installed on custom computers as opposed to pre-built and that's definitely something I would have heard about by now. I think you just have bad luck or some third party application/driver is causing you trouble. I once had an outdated network driver that was conflicting with my firewall causing Windows XP to routinely crash.
