Your first pc

If you want to count atari... my first would have been an atari 2600 back sometime around 1982 or 1983... I was thinking desktop and not gaming consoles. In fact... I still have two 2600s and about 70 games (including the worst game ever made... ET).

My first memory of a pc was our old Packard Bell. I dont remember the specs of it but i do remember good old windows 3.1... we upgraded to 95 when it came out and stuck with it untill the pc died around 2001(dont quote me idk if thats right) or so... Then we upgraded to a single core amd Athlon 64 3800 with 512mb of ram and an integrated graphics card until i upgrade to an AGP ati radeon 9550.

That lasted quite some time then we upgrade to a athlon 64 x2 3800 with 512mb of ram and a 7600gt. That pc has lasted since then, it has been upgraded with a better psu and gave it 2gb of ram.

I then built my own pc with a core 2 duo overclocked to 3.3ghz and 2gb of ram and a 4850. Then i won my desktop from our eGO. then i bought a netbook as well so i sorta stepped backwards.... lol.

my first was in 1994 lol, all i know it was black case and a 15" screen with HardBall 5 baseball game LOL.

dude my first pc was a 486 with i think 8 megabytes of ram...MB!! lol. it had the small floppy disks as well as the big black ones. ran windows 3.1, and some of the best games were match game, castle, and dual (i think it was called) it was a great racing game where you had a variety of cars, i think 12 to choose from and you drove over various levels either for time or racing a computer car, and there was craffic and cliffs and trees and such where you could crash. and the cops would come on you and drop spike strips after awhile etc....it was a great game.

we then upgraded to a 800 mhz comp with i think 128mb ram or maybe 256 i don't remember...but my dad actually just had that computer until recently it died. i remember the first time we ran anti spyware programs on it it found like 900+ items hahaha
from there i got my own computer, don't really remember the specs...it only lasted a year before everything completely fried and the warranty was up, and it was cheaper for us to get a new computer so i got one at a BLAZING fast 2.2ghz 4400+ with a 5600 i think it was gpu, which i upgraded to my old 8600 gt for 40 bucks (staples sale and rebate!). and then now my current rig.

3 words to sum it up Floppy Disks Only, my first PC was one of the ones where the screen was green and games were only on floppy disks, games like Oregon Trail.......

i remember playing good old commander keen and earthworm jim on my pc growing up... those were the days. I could go to my local drug store and pick up games on floppy for like $5.

Gateway something in '96.

450 MHz CPU, 128 MB of RAM, 8 GB HDD and no graphics card running WIN98 SE, I still got it actually and it still runs lol.

very next computer I bought was in '07 which has been upgraded to: phenom II 940, 3 gigs of RAM, 500 gig harddrive, and a Asus 4870 Dark Knight 1 GB. Big jump lol

1MB 60ns RAM (soldered on the board)

DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1

Things I bought for upgrading:
387 Math Coprocessor (for floating point calculations)
4MB 60ns RAM (30 pin SIMMS! YAY!) For 5MB total - a lot for back then
CD-ROM (a 2x drive, too!)
AD-Lib sound card
a WANG 2MB Video Card (with AutoCAD DOS Drivers!)

It was a BAD Mo-Fo for the time and all that was just for AutoCAD R10 and 3D Studio (both of which were DOS versions).

i also remember i booted up command and conquer red alert from floppy disks (had like 24 of em i think) and to boot it up on my computer took about 20 minutes, but it ran ok once it started! haha

I don't know whether this makes me feel really old or really ghetto growing up.
My family received its first computer back in like '94. I grew up in a Seattle neighborhood and I think the computer came from one of my mom's friends at Boeing.
I have no idea about the specs. but I honestly believe it ran just straight up MS-DOS. All I remember doing on it was playing (and losing at) Duke Nukem and Driver. It makes me lol thinking about how much computers have changed and how my iPod Touch has better hardware than that old thing.
