Plinks?

What is the purpose for plinks? Is it some kind of cash system or a "rank" system? I'm a bit lost....

You get plinks for killing, bomb planting, and rescuing hosties. Plinks are used to train troops on FBG

I do not know what they are actually used for but I just donate them to the clan.
