Problem with my X-Fi Sound Blaster Xtreme sound card

Alright guys, so here's the deal. I've got a Creative X-Fi Extreme Sound Blaster card, and it's worked pretty well for a good while. It's about a year old now, I reckon, and now I'm havin' troubles with it. I've got a X-540 5.1 Speaker System by Logitech.

At first, I noticed the center channel was no longer playing any sound. If I set my speakers to matrix mode (mono for all speakers, I believe it is), the center speaker would play sound--but otherwise, nothing. So, deciding not to bother with it, I set my sound system to 4.1 and left my Center speaker alone, and went back to my games.

Well, over time, I eventually noticed my rear speakers weren't working--but instead, something peculiar was happening. Regardless of whether my sound system was set to 5.1 or 4.1, if I played sound out the rear channels--they would both play out through my center speaker. Even with both rear speakers unplugged, the center speaker would still play sound from the rear channels.

I just reinstalled my drivers, only to find no change. What do you think may be my problem, and my best plan of action?

What operating system are you currently running? PM me a dxdiag if you could.

Okay, their support is three steps away from retarded, so your best plan of action is to try to troubleshoot it yourself.

First, we will want to get the latest driver, from here.

Second, we will want to make sure the speakers are plugged in correctly. (Yes, I know, you probably already checked this, but just make double sure the colors match up. You should have three cables, going into the bottom three slots, color to color.)

Third, open up your Creative Console Launcher, make sure all the settings are to their proper configuration, and you have it set to 5.1.

If you are still having issues, click on the live support link in my sig, and the tech team will see what it can do for you.
