New Steam beta! - Read for details

I like it...I like it a lot

(being reserved and British that means I really really love it to bits)
 
They Still dont let you group friends but you can atleast figure out who else play a certain game real quick which is nice for if you want to fill a l4d game but dont want to spam invites to people who may or may not play that game. and there are game categories now that are user definable. instead of the old installed, uninstall and fav.

and the store showing how many of your friends play a certain game before you buy it is a cool touch.


edit: you cant group friends but you can hide the offline ones so that make huge lists a bit more manageable but it really should have grouping like every other chat application

It's definitely gonna be good for improving valve's image

Yeah. I really like how you can view friends who own or are currently playing a game really easily.

The overall graphics are much nicer too
 
going through the res files and stuff i notice some stuff for OS X so they might me planning a port sometime in the future
 
Just downloaded it, it looks awesome, but now for some reason I have to re-download Company of Heroes.
 
I looks cool but is it only me or is it when your right click on the icon at the bottom right there dont stand anything? games, communit, servers, friends like before? :)

For some reason i cant see those menus at the top of steam, they're totally blank. :facewall:
 
I tried it now, it looks very good, and some stuff like u see who got the games u have is pretty cool. But the menus on top is blank, all menus was blank here, and i started to re-download some games. I hope they get all this fixed when its finished, then i`m going to use it.
 
For a beta, I like it. It's taking a bit to get used to, but I go through that every time Facebook updates their UI and I love Steam a million times more than FB :P
 
It was crashing like crazy last night, but it seems to be stable now. Really great layout.
 
Looks cool, cant wait for the final release! Will be epic! :)

Ive started to hate the old design, looks horrible now.

To anybody wondering about MW2 using this new beta will force you to download it again. I say use the discs to download again as it is faster.
 
Valve put a section on the steam forums for any problems ;)
 
check out the
*\Steam\resource\styles\steam.style" file in a text editor it has most of the content of the old steamscheme.res file and allows you to do a lot of changes to coloring fonts and lets you move the notification corner
 
Wow the beta update makes Call of Duty: Modern warfare 2 files get deleted so you have to reinstall the whole 6GB File which is gonna take me 2 hours!
