Heapsizes

Could someone give me the heapsize I should use for 3 gigs of ram? I had mine set in advanced launch properties but the beta erased the whole thing and I gotta put it all back in there and I forgot it.

source games are generally pretty good at deciding how much the need my them selfs

and also the game will never use more than 2gb no matter what you set it too.

wHy do you set the heap size?


-Xmx3072m I believe would be the correct

I still get about a 60 FPS increase when using this setup for my games

-novid -high -console -threads 4 -heapsize 1572867


So when my FPS wasn't staying over 50 all the time I checked that and it was my problem, I usually get 130 FPS+ constantly with this setup.

It's your call, but using 4 threads on a single core game could cause stability issues...

I've been using that for over a year now and havn't had any issues with it.


I've also got the multi core rendering setup in settings. Mat_que_mode 2 was horrid and I would never recommend using that command EVER.
