While playing on the Rush Rotation server tonight (before my connection to EA was suddenly and violently cut), I came across a dissappointing event.

During my team's attacking phase, someone said, "teams". I checked and they were down by a few people. So I joined the other team (even though we were doing pretty well), and so did a couple other guys (non eGo). Upon our loss, I noticed the teams were stacked to such a degree, that it was about an six player difference.

I mentioned in chat "teams". When no switch was made, I said, "Come on eGO members. Remember why we have these servers." A couple said they were trying but it wouldn't let them. Of the two, one made the switch fairly quickly, but teams from the attacking team (my team), started to leave for two reasons:

1) 12 vs 18 was a bit of a buzz kill.

2) The defending team was shooting into our spawn.

Now, the second isn't much of a problem, unless you're down by a 1/3 of the other team. I was running medic, but that could only help so much before I was cut down by enemy fire. Then EA dropped me like a bad habit.

The point of this thread is to A) Vent my frustration in a calm and productive manner and B) Remind the members of eGO to step up to the plate to help even the teams. Help make the game a fun and exciting time for both teams.

I was there :P But like I said In-Game, it said I can't switch teams so often.

Yep. I remember. But we had like another four eGO members on your side (besides the one who switched) that didn't even bother with chat.

Once you switch teams it wont let you switch back after multiple rounds... You have to disconnect from the server and reconnect to get back to be able to switch teams. So like they said they could if they would but it would mean the possibility of losing their spot on the server. Until the server and admin tools are better supported its just the way its going to have to be.

This happened on that one island map, yes? I think there should be some way of stopping the enemy snipers from mortaring into your spawn and shooting into your spawn, yes spawn camping is often part of the game but on that map it goes too far. Spawn camping is 'ok' in the game because of spawning on squad mates and such a large spawn area, but when 2-3 enemy snipers can pretty much have a constant mortar barrage down on the spawn and snipe anyone that spawns before they have a chance to take cover it is a bit too much. "well have your snipers snipe them" first of all your snipers typically cannot spawn without dieing, the other thing is that typically the enemy snipers will be well enough concealed that you can barely see any of them when scoped in and it is very hard to hit the little sliver of them that you can see :/

This has happened multiple times.

I think the worst was maybe yesterday mid-afternoon-evening my time, we had teams 12 vs 20 and the score average of the players on each side were ~870 for the 12 team and ~2200 (there was noxx as a 5.4k and some zhr members that were also up there that kinda threw the average, please note that i'm not calling out any of these members as a few them offered to switch).

My point is, 12 rounds, 6 maps, of completely retarded camping and flat out denial of any progression is not fun. This kind of crap is why those admin tools need to get here faster, I know that most eG and eGO members will switch if they see a problem, as will most e members; but it's still ridiculously disheartening to even attempt to have fun on the servers when this goes on.

I'll still be on the servers as a way to support eGO of course, but damn i wish those tools would get here sooner ya know :/

Anyways, we did deny them B building on one level (port valdez?), that was pretty intense and hilarious (12 v 20) ~1500 pts as a medic in a matter of minutes. The teams evened out afterwards, so i'd imagine either the # of rounds limit was up, or the public players were swapping to the winning side. Either way, was more or less balanced afterwards rest of night until i logged off to eat.

Anywho, is the regular rush map the only server with this "issue?" Or does the conquest and HC rush have problems with it as well?

The main problem of bc2 is there can be more than 16 players in a team which is nonsense since 32 is the max so why authorizing more than 16 players... mystery.

Remember guys. One of the rules for eGO is. Would you be the person to shout "teams" and not switch over yourself, or be the member to switch over.

We have to set an example to the pubs. If we don't switch ourselves then they wont bother either.

A very good idea also it should auto balance and take the lowest point players from the other team AKA "you haven't been on the server that long"

When a team starts rage quitting after we have beat them back 3 fire bases. Yeah i do not want to switch teams right away. I just worked my ass off with my team to beat you back and now 5 people drop its kinda frustrating :facewall:

I generally try to switch teams when they start to become unbalanced, but the team switch time limit rears it's head more then I would like.

This is exactly right, Darth.

Part of who we are as a clan is to sent an example. When teams become unfair, and people are starting to complain, set an example for others and switch to the losing team (that contains less people).

As people have mentioned, and I've experienced this myself, sometimes the team switch will not let you switch because you have done so "too many times" in the round. In this case, I would suggest to possibly rejoin the server, or just simply stay on your original team and encourage people to balance the teams out.

Simple encouragement is sometimes all that it takes.

Keep in mind that there's a bug who forbids people to change teams. It just says "you can't change so often" or something of the sort.

EA has many issues to fix. One thing you can do is express all the ideas you have to them so they see the demand for some things (working team balance, limiting it so you can't have 30 vs 2 for some reason, some sort of console or tool for in game admining without running something connected at all times to the server etc)
The worst part for me is reserved slots, but, all good things come to those who wait, hopefully they fix some of the issues we see now, to make this game even better!

Listen to Darth guys, he knows what he's talking about :P

I completely agree with Darth, however it's usually not the player on the winning team to shout teams. It's usually the player on the losing side that looks and sees that teams are uneven. Since they are already on the side that is getting rolled they really can't switch.

As eGO members we shouldn't care about winning or losing. We should only care about having fun and making sure everyone on the server is having fun (as much as we can at least).

The problem with disconnecting to even the teams out is that if the server is full then you're probably gonna lose your spot in the server as chances are there is someone waiting to connect. If it's during an off-time and there are multiple spots left on the server then disconnect so you can switch to the other team.

When EA releases admin tools that are "better?" you guys think there will be a player limit that server admins can set to each team? If so, is there any way to implement that as of now?

16v16 could easily be forced, although that does put a hinderance on people that wish to play together when the server is almost full or is full.

True, but in Team Fortress 2, when the game is full and friends want to play together, they just have to kill eachother until a slot opens up on either side.

He has a point...I also have a problem switching teams when i worked so hard to get them to where they are..but i always switch if its toward the middle or start of the game
