...alright, I warned you. Let's begin...)

There is too much "can't" around here.

I have heard several suggestions for adjusting existing events/processes. Some of them are well-liked and/or good ideas, but what we (the general eGO public) hear is that they "can't" be done. Sometimes we are given reason, sometimes we don't even get that much. How many of these ideas do we even try, or look into trying? I don't see any questions about it--how it will work, what they mean, who else likes it, yet the people who say it can't be done are still so sure of it.

The same goes with completely new ideas. They get thrown into the same category as old similar ones, that were proposed, formulated, and executed by a completely different set of people...and thus different ideas, commitment, and resilience.

The same goes with ideas that did work that are no longer around, such as the pistols or stripper mods. For some people, these were deciding factors in playing on eGO servers. When wondering why they are no longer, we get told that we "can't" bring them back. In this, the largest and greatest gaming community, there is nobody with the skills or ability to do this? Or is it a matter of time and effort? If I knew how and had the ability, I would do them myself. At least let us know why "can't" we? We are waiting for somebody outside of the community to code these mods again? Are the people who can put them back into place making active efforts to get them back?

It's all over the place. It trickles down to everybody until we get more people giving the thumbs down to ideas than there are those trying to figure out how to make them work, if they can work. As I mentioned before in another thread, not everybody is willing to stand up and support an idea--even if they genuinely like it--if they see a bunch of other people shooting it down. They are also far less likely so suggest their own idea because they might fear it, too, will be treated in the same manner.

I stand up because I don't care what people who don't know me think about me. I get told that I "can't" make posts joking about things like "how to become an admin" and I will probably be told how I "can't" post this either, because it addresses the elephant in the room. I am told that all of this will hurt my chances at ever becoming an admin and might even make some people want me kicked out of the clan.

Well, guess what? We don't need that "G" or that "GO" to be a leader. The man make the title, the title doesn't make the man, and sometimes we need to take the ego out of eGO. I make random, sometimes dumb, posts for your guys' benefit. I also post things like this because everybody has ideas, big or small. Let's let them know that they can share those ideas and that we'll at least consider them.

Mainly though--enough with the "can't."

I would like to point out...this commentary is not a result of my latest suggestion--though it was a catalyst to finally speak up.

Furthermore, this is very much NOT singularly addressing or calling out ronpaul or D.T.S., in regards to the aforementioned suggestion. I recognize, respect, admire, and appreciate their support and dedication to myself, and especially to eGO. May nothing I say be considered contrary to these firm views, and may nobody think otherwise about either of them, or of any other eGO leadership who do "earn their stripes" and serve us.

YSD,

I expect your thread to get some attention. Hopefully of a constructive variety.

Sometimes there are good reasons that the answer is "can't do it". Sometimes there are not. Not everyone is blessed with your ability to express themselves and some of us are too quick to jump in with an opinion without taking the time to formulate an articulate reply.

It's a pity that this is so, but it is so. Please remember that patience is a virtue. And please, please, please continue to offer fresh ideas and revisit old ideas that you are passionate about.

We must also keep in mind that all of us, including our leadership are volunteers, and do not always have the time to be as attentive as we should.

Also we must consider that while most of us live in democracies Edge Gamers is not a democracy nor should it be.

Many of us at one time or another have floated ideas on the forums or through personal messages or posted in the drop box and have not always received the answers that we wished. Upon occasion we have received no answer at all. We should not let it discourage us.

We are a great community and your participation makes us a better community.

We need your enthusiasm and leadership.

HAHA. I'm not. I shall continue to give ideas and post.

Like I said, I am not easily defeated and a lot of this was on behalf of people who won't speak up for themselves, whether they are afraid to, or don't think it is in their place to, or whatever.

I still have hope for us and know that we have the ability to do many things...I think that's kinda my point . We need to stop getting down on each other and down on ourselves and making excuses.

This wasn't an angry letter or my feeling personally attacked or anything. That's why the one specific issue I mentioned in it was one that I haven't even been complaining about/discussing myself.

hmmm interesting.. but as most of us we already know the answer, a couple of weeks or months in the clan will illuminate your mind of how eGO works.

I've been around for over seven months (yes, I know, so little compared to some of you) and I've seen it. That's why I am saying something. Should we just sit back and let things die, saying nothing?

I like this idea of revisiting past ideas, it sounds like a good way to let some of the old ways come back to life. But like Quaffer said we are all volunteers and some of us lead hectic lives. I think that this is a great thread and am interested in seeing where it goes and what other people think.

Huh? I think I'm missing something...
