I have come across a World War II mod for HL:2, much like Insurgency although still very different. The problem is, There aren't too many players--especially not enough American/Canadians.
Resistance and Liberation (www.resistanceandlberation.com) is the name of the game. It is in public alpha with a beta not too far off. I've seen quite a few eGO? so far, and I'm sure more would like the game if people give it a chance.
The problem is, there are about 13 servers and most players are European or UK. eGO easily has the numbers to fill a server or get one populated enough to attract others. Who knows, you guys might not start an RnL division but you might attract new members that play other Source games. Or enough might like it enough to start a division.
The few clans that exist are "realism units" that go by a military structure and tactics; this means eGO easily appeals as the casual clan for those casual gamers that might not be interested in military-style clans. I'm just saying, easy pickings.
To sum everything up; People should download the game from the site HERE (500mb) and give it a try. There is a learning curve at first and controls might have to be adjusted (two style of iron sights/mouse reversred (can be changed), ect, ect). If anything, look around the website a bit and see if anything catches your eye.
The game really needs MORE North American players. I can see this game becoming pretty popular--Like the next INS.
