In light of a recent post, (Maps posted my TheIrish,) I have decided to take on two challenges, and I need your thoughts on one of those. (The second challenge.)

The First Challenge: In the works is a full map-by-map history of DoD:s in chronological order. While the maps are not exact, they are a fictional depiction of actual events, I would like to bring the two realms of fact and fiction together for Edge and our friends. Once this is complete challenge two, and your help, comes into play...

The Second Challenge: This is an event night idea. It does not have to be a weekly thing, I am thinking once a month, maybe twice if there is enough interest. The idea is to play, again in chronological order, each map as the Allies made there march for Germany. We would play each map for somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes, (in order to keep it from lasting 3 hours, unless you WANT that, or it could be divided other ways however this will be discussed at a later time,) and I would give a brief but detailed history of the battle or battles the map was based on before play begins.

Please cast your vote for the EVENT NIGHT idea and should enough members be interested leadership and myself will hash out the details of said event. I will leave the poll open for 7 days.

Thanks for the support gents, and I see the possible path to a vague RP but I don't think I'd go farther then an attempt at a an accurate platoon make up regarding weapons. But that's a possibility at a later time should there be interest in it.

Negative to both Kane and the Doctor. I've been involved with Realism' since shortly after it started with the original DoD and while it gives a better feel for the game it's still limited by rules and stipulations. If it was something I thought would go well with Realism I would have contacted Stormy privately. I still may contact him regarding giving a history at the beginning like we've had a few times, but this is a once a month/twice a month stand alone and the "rules" are nothing like realism other then there will be class limitations but those limits based off how a real platoon is constructed, what the battle was really like that the map was based off of and other details I do not have set in stone yet.

The realism would need to be completely revamped and I don't want to step on Stormy's toes like that. We play a modified league realism that's been passed down since DoD, this does take a few of those points but is going to highly modify the rest of it. Thus, this interest post.

Not at all. My apologies if it came off that way to more then just Spank. My intention of said post was purely informative and conveying the correct information to you all while also pointing to the facts that show this idea is stand alone even though it does share some commonalities with Realism. I'm not here to pick fights, start issues, etc. I'm here to improve our community, bring my own ideas and creativity to the table and share it with my fellow friends and build on the great and ever evolving community that we have here.

If, for example, Doc or Kane, or anyone else for that matter, has an idea as to how this can be incorporated into Realism, (keeping in mind that how we currently play Realism would need to be modified,) then by all means I welcome your ideas and collaboration on this concept. As of this time I am just asking our fellow members if they have an interest in the basic idea of it before taking several hours, but more then likely days, to hammer out the exact specifics of how the event(s) would work.

I digress for now, as it is getting late and in this mood I could type for hours...
