Random Crashes to Desktop/Lockups

Since the latest patch, I haven't been able to play more than 15 minutes before it locking up the computer hard. Have to do a power off reset. Before, I could play for hours without issue. Nothing has changed in my config or settings, only thing that changed was the patch.

I'm saddened that I have to shelf this game now.

Fortunately haven't had the game freeze, but I do get these random CTD's that are friggin annoying since they conveniently occur when I'm doing exceptionally well... idk if it's because I'm holding "ctrl" for too long or something when I snipe and Vista just freaks out, but it's really bizarre.

Runs smooth at 60 FPS on my machine with high settings, and my system is more than capable of running the game.

Hopefully just a bug?

This has happened to me a few times. I am running a X-Fi Titanium card, so I don't think it would be an onboard sound issue as I have that completely disabled via the BIOS. Also, I do not have a PhysX card, just my single HD4850.

Just trying to help everyone get to the bottom of this!

Oh it's definitely the game, it's just a matter of them figuring out wtf they screwed up. It apparently was present in beta, but now it's back; maybe someone replicated some old bad coding? who knows. I do know that i had another crash, but that may or may not of been because of me fiddling around with certain settings i probably shouldn't touch; lol. My screen looked pretty cool though :D

Anywho, going to update drivers back up to what they were prior to me reverting/disabling physX and see what happens (cuz i can't play my other games how i like to w/o updating...)

they really need to fix this.

Don't have an Nvidia card at present time, running an HD4850X2. When I first got the game things seemed fine the first few times I played,, but then I started getting BSOD'd, game would lock and a split second later there was a blue screen. I tried all sorts of settings changes and nothing really helped me. I read the thread by Duality about settings changes and tried a few and while it seemed to help me play a little longer, it really didn't help cause I was still crashing ALOT (couldn't play a few times, would load up server browser and it would crash me).

Then I found the BFBC2 Launcher that I linked in the thread with Duality's tweaks. I tried using DX9, tried lowering graphics settings thru the settings file but nothing seemed to help. I couldn't find the settings for AA or AF in game so I tried shutting it off on my card(but according to Duality's previous post this wouldn't help since the game is borked with AA and AF in DX9). What seemed to work for me was changing the AA and AF in the bfbc2launcher program I linked in said previous thread. I turned them both down to 1x in game and then put my video card settings back to where I usually run them. Didn't crash(that I can remember) and the next day bumped it back to DX10 and have been playing ever since and haven't crashed again.(crosses fingers).

tl:dr Download the bc2launcher that allows you to adjust your settings and thru it adjust your in game AA and AF to lowest settings(1X) and see if it helps. It cant hurt and might actually fix your crashes.

I will see if I can post a pic of the launcher so everyone can see what can easily be adjusted.
edit: Setting you see in the attached pic are what I use and havent had problems since I set them.

I've tried that method, it still crashes. It's something in the game that i'd imagine is some sort of memory soaker or something; just keeps eating away at the system until it crashes.

I've already submitted data directly to EA's "support" people like they wanted me to and haven't heard back from them. The data basically showed that at random (literally) intervals, the game massively spiked on my performance monitoring program/display (G-15) and it either locked up entirely or settled shortly. MAybe there's a looping graphic somewhere? maybe there's a looping code in very specific situation? I don't know, but it appears that some sort of loop is present and obliterates a fair amount of systems out there atm.

I've also had a temp monitor on my RAM and it runs fairly warm, but when the above crash occurs, it gets retardedly hot (this is within a matter of a few minutes of them being "normal")

It's stupid and needs to be fixed, they just haven't figured out what it is yet; which is why i'm playing borderlands and WoW : / both of which piss me off more than these crashes; lol.
