"Hey dad did you see the new iPad?"
"No son, what's it like?"
"Well it can play music and movies and even surf the web!"
"Really now? Anything else?"
"Yeah, it has applications!!!"
"So...it's a giant expensive iTouch?"
"NO it's the iPad!"
"Go to your room."

my dad thinks that people are being idiots because of the fact that people are willing to wait in long lines just to be 1 of the 1st to get the iPad. frankly for the 1st time, i gotta agree w/ him. it also shows that even tho we are in what politicians have called the "great recession", seems that some people are still doing good financially. i think those people who are willing to shell out $$ for this iPad need to put their resources into helping others who are less fortunate. i mean i really dont think that this product will meet the expectations of people who either have owned an iPhone or an iPod touch. but Steve Jobs is rich nuff to where he can make a gamble. lets hope it pays off in the long run. theres no way ill ever get one of those. the thing is way 2 big to put in my pocket. thats 1 of the reasons why i like the iPod touch in the 1st place.

There are five types of people..

Innovators
Early adopters
Early majority
Late majority
Laggards

The people standing in line are innovators. I don't think there will be much people after the early adopters.

Its a big i touch basically

but people are going to buy it anyway, and they make a crap ton of money off it, so they still win.

went to bestbuy today and played around with it. wasn't impressed. it's just whatever.

i did find out that apple will be releasing a "new" Iphone HD soon. if anyone's in the market for a new phone.

If I were ever to buy one of these iPads, it would be in the future. Apple is going to do the same thing that they did with the iPod Nano here. First we saw the 1st Generation, which was cool. Then the 2nd, which gave it slight changes to make it more attractive. Now we are at the 5th generation, and honestly, who cares anymore? I feel that Apple will do the same thing with the iPad.

The iPad does not come with a flash player, which is pretty essential if you want to effectively browse the web, which this thing is designed for. I am confident that later versions of the device will include a flash player, and some qualities that make it more than an iPod Touch.

As for the price, $500 for the worst version of this thing is ridiculous. I would much rather go out and buy a $500 laptop than this.

I don't get it. I seriously don't.

The only applicable use I can think of for this thing is to read e-books, but yet it's not really being marketed as such. Jobs sort of attempted to make a brash comparison to a netbook, but I can't even begin to see how that would work.

The only determination that I can come to is that it was created with no reason other than to make money. The Ipod makes sense, the Iphone makes sense and yes even the failed AppleTV makes sense. The Ipad has no real applicable use that cannot be replicated on either the Iphone or Ipod touch...well other than reading e-books, which is a retarded invention on it's own.

So Apple, what is it? What are you trying to do, other than to make money and get us to read on books a computer? Do you expect people to watch movies on this, I seem to remember seeing that on the Ipad commercial. I can't imagine watching a movie on that, it's simply to big to hold for long periods of time. So are we suppose to use it on long rides where we can prop it up? Though I only rarely take long trips, I would like to take more but they're to expense. So would I want to drop $500 on a movie watching device that I would only use a couple of times?

How about this Mr. Jobs: For the second generation of the Ipad, you take the same basic design and make it a little smaller...you know for ergonomics reasons and then you rename it the Ipod Touch. Yeah, that sounds like a real winner right there.

So please Apple, help make sense of this for me. It is really confusing.

I think the iPad's silly. I think it's an oversized iPod touch, and it would hurt my eyes to read on that thing. I'd rather have an eBook reader.

I don't mind the lack of Flash. If you use OSX then you would know Flash is useless, it crashes Safari all the time and hogs system resources. But I agree it's silly, sure the Apps are cool and it looks more usable then a netbook for certain things, but this is Apple. In 9 months the second gen version will come out and blow everyone's minds.

So it's a mix between a mac and an ipod touch? . . .

I wonder how much these apple designers make yearly..

I didnt really see the point of carrying something so big around with like a 70% to break.
