Title: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Story: WTF happened?

Review: I know why this film happened and why it turned out to the way ti did. When the first film hit big Michael Eisner sent down the message to make more, two more in fact. Now nobody expected the first film to be that big of a success and as such no one had the faintest clue what to due for a sequel. But the clock was ticking and hundreds of millions of dollars was pouring on the production team so they panicked and created one of the most disjointed and nonsensical films that I've ever seen. I'm totally serious, this is the kind of plot that one makes up as they go.

Story: A film about the creative process and about Fellini himself.

Review: This is one of those all time classic films that's recommended to just about anyone who is interested in films...and quite frankly I agree with that sentiment. It's a film that can mean a whole lot of things to a whole lot of people. In fact I had a discussion with my boss on my boss on this film and we had differing opinions on the film, though we both really liked the film. It may bore you tears, but I'm going to have to insist that you see 8?.

Story: "Welcome to Brainerd, Home of Paul Bunyan."

Review: A crazy serpentine tale of a car sales man who has his wife kidnapped so that he may embezzle money from his father in law. In standard Coen brother fashion the whole plan falls apart in a violent and comedic fashion. This is widely regarded as the best Coen film and while I disagree that Fargo is their definitive best...I have to say that this is one amazing film. I watched it again last night for the umpteenth time and still enjoyed watching this masterpiece.

Title: The Rundown

Story: Millionaire send a bounty hunter down to South America to bring his son back to the states. One problem though...Christopher Walken!

Review: Surprisingly entertaining action film that really doesn't let up till the credits start rolling. It's probably Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's best movie...scratch that...this is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's best movie. The action comes fast and is pretty kinetic, while the humor does it's job to keep the movie lighthearted enough. This is an audience pleaser and does it's job pretty well. Sure there are a few faults, but for a film like this, that's pare for the course.

Story: Some times a name is just a name...other times The Forest of Resurrection will actually raise the dead.

Review: Highly stylized and super violent, Versus was writer and director Ryuhei Kitamura's big jump on to the world stage. The name of the game is action here with some horror overtones. For the most part the film pull off the action-horror overtones with great effect. It's a little slow getting started, but once it gets going it keeps going till it's twisty end. Though I have to say the film is wrought with problem, most can be attributed to both it's budget and the type of story it's trying to tell. Other problems can be found in the films pacing. Still, it's a fun and engaging film.

Director: Kevin Smith

Story: A day in the lives of two twenty something store clerks.

Review: Kevin Smith made this film for $27,000 and what that initial investment reaped is pretty amazing. Smith has managed to turn this movie into an entire universe of of films with interlocking characters and plots. Clerks though is pretty much the only one out of all of Smith's films that can stand on it's own. This one is a comedy classic with a style all of it's own and an interesting set of characters to boot. It's one of those all time great comedies that will probably still be talked about for years to come, most because the two main characters are so universal. Two slackers whose lives have hit a dead end and now they are pissing away the 20s as store clerks.

Story: Is this the lowest point in J-Horror remakes?

Review: Yes, dear god yes...this is the lowest point in J-horror remakes. This is a really bad film and it's not your normal "so bad it's good" horror film, no this is truly a pile s**t I kid you not. I could not find one redeeming quality in the whole production. F*** this movie.

Title: Super Size Me

Director: Morgan Spurlock

Story: A man lives off of McDonald for one month and it nearly kills him.

Review: Morgan Spurlock's landmark documentary about the negative health effect of fast food is still as damning today as it was six years ago. Now it's kind of obvious that no one eats that much fast food and Spurlock does state this near the end of the film. What it did do though was to light a fire of an idea in the public consciousness that we probably shouldn't be eating the crap that fast food companies shell out. It's a very well done documentary and is pretty easy to sit through. Probably one of the best documentaries to come out of the last decade.

Story: Three idiot rockers hold a radio station hostage for some airtime.

Review: Funny yet kind of forgettable comedy from the mid-nineties. I really don't have all that much more to say on this one...sorry.
