Have you done/seen The Legend of Drunken Master? I would like to see your insight on it. It is my favorite kung fu movie despite the fact that its basically a comedy.

I'm going to do the Coen brothers chronologically...for no particular reason. Also I'll do TWbB when I can thing of something to write...it's sort of my favorite film from the last decade, so I'll tackle it sooner or later.

Story: I HAVE HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHER F'IN SUPER SHARKS ON THIS MOTHER F'IN UNDERWATER SCIENCE LAB.
Review: Alright be honest, who remembers this movie. 1999 was a very busy year in the world of film and Deep Blue Sea was neither the best or most memorable film to come out that year. The premise involve genetically engineered super sharks who attempt to escape an underwater research facility. It's a big dumb action film that feels almost like Alien...but with sharks. Even with its stupid plot, bad acting and poor direction the film still is entertaining...and isn't that all that matter.

Story: Something about missiles and Val Kilmer.
Review: It's kind of a spoof of MacGyver and that would all be fine and good if it were made by the Zucker brothers...which it isn't. This was done by the Lonely Island guys, who are apparently attached to SNL in someway. I haven't actually watched any SNL in like a good decade...so I'm not exactly familiar with MacGruber or any of the other stuff the Lonely Island guys put out.
Anyway this movie is a hard "R", it goes pretty far on language, sex jokes and violence...so definitely not eGO friendly. The films humor is hit or miss and many of the jokes are written for the lowest common denominator. Though at times it is really damn funny. My main issue with the film is that the title character is to stupid, I mean it's gets to the point where it just stops being funny. Oh, and Val Kilmer is hilarious in this.

Well Legend of the Drunken Master is Drunken Master II...which I've heard was good, but I haven't seen. I have see Drunken Master though.

Review: Let me explain the half-a**ed synopsis, my friends and I decided it would be fun to watch Drunken Master...well drunk, so large chunks of this film escapes my memory. Though my overall impression of the film is positive, I do remember liking this one...so yeah.

Story: A man and wife kidnap a child from one of the richest people in Arizona. They are then confronted by a series of crazy events, which include escaped convicts, a vindictive boss and a biker who is literally from hell.
Review: The second entry by the Coen brothers is a massive change of direction from Blood Simple. This is a fast pace and hilarious film that is as insane as it is brilliant. It's weird, yet endearing and instantly likable. Do yourself a favor and see this one.

Story: Cher falls for Nic Cage, who happens to be the brother for the person she is engaged to.
Review: Cute rom-com dealing with two unlucky people falling for each other. There are great performances from the whole cast, both Cage and Cher do a really good job with their roles. The film has a very New York/Italian flavor to it and is really enjoyable. If your in the mood for a rom-com, you can't do much better than this.

Review: Here is a brilliant idea: Take one of the most celebrated thrillers of all time and remake it with Vince Vaughn. Wait, that's a freaking retarded idea. Now I have no idea why Gus Van Sant would want to remake Psycho, but I do know that I have not seen a Van Sant film since I saw this one. That's right, I didn't see Elephant, Paranoid Park or Milk...all because of this terrible film.

Title: Kung Pow! Enter the Fist

Story: It's the tale of a young man who manipulated scenes from a Kung fu film to make a parody of Kung fu movies....yeah.
Review: From time to time I love to watch a good Kung fu, especially if they are dubbed. Poor dubbing can wring a few good laughs from even the most serious film. What Steve Oedekerk has done here is to take the humor found in bad dubs and to stretch it into an 80 min film.
Is this a bad movie? Well yes and no. When this was first released I was thirteen and this was the kind of thing my thirteen year old self found funny. Even today I still think there are plenty of gags in the movie that work well and are pretty funny. Though a lot of the film just doesn't work all that well. I like the idea that someone can splice up a film and turn it into a comedy and I've been secretly looking forward this films sequel for the last eight years...but I just can't give this a high score.

Story: "Get off my plane."
Review: I freakin love this movie. This is your standard big, dumb, action film...except better. The basic concept is that terrorists have taken over Air Force One, you know the U.S presidents plane. The president has a chance to escape, but doesn't and goes forth to kill every terrorist on his plane. It's a stupid premise, but it's one that is executed perfectly. Ford is great as the president and shows that a middle age man can still kick some a**.

You should review the movie Honor by Director David Worth. My uncle was a producer. Keep in mind, it was a very low budget.
Haven't heard of it, but apparently Netflix has it. If I have time I'll check it out

Story: I am Jack's Medulla Oblongata.
Review: Ok, here is the basic jist of the story: We have an unnamed corporate drone of a protagonist, who happens to be an insomniac. He finds out through some strange coincidence that by going to support groups and crying he manages to sleep. By support groups I don't mean ones for insomnia or for being a corporate drone, I mean the ones where the people are usually dying. Anyway at one of these meetings he meets a woman who is going to these meetings for pure schadenfreudic pleasure. Later out protagonist meets a nihilist named Tyler Durden and a downward spiral to oblivion begins.
Well I have to say that is my most in depth plot synopses I've done yet and for good reason, I really like this movie...like I've seen this 50 times or so. No joke, I've seen this movie 50 damn times. It's a perfect storm of talent, story and money that rarely happens. This film is a rarity, it's a type of project that should have been an independent production, but managed to get some big names and money behind it. This is rare because most studios wouldn't drop $65 million on this kind of story.
On a stylistic aspect, Fincher did a top-notch job in the directors chair and cemented himself as one of my favorite American directors with this one. The electronic style soundtrack is well used and does well to accentuate scenes that thematically all over the place. The script is well written and very well put together. All the actors involved to a great job in their roles.
When examining the film on a thematic level, things begin to get more interesting. The basic message of the film has to do with Nihilism and not many films are will to tackle a topic such as that. On top of the Nihilism there is also heavy anti-corporate and anti-consumerism themes playing through the film. Not to mention themes of Self-loathing, Self-deception and redemption. It's a movie that is fun to break down to its smallest parts.
So yeah, I wholeheartedly recommend this film.
