Title: Seven Samurai

Director: Akira Kurosawa
Story: An impoverished village under assault by bandits hire seven warriors to help defend them.
Review: I personally prefer Yojimbo over this one, but still the Seven Samurai is a spectacular film. The base story has been adapted some many times that I've almost lost count. Form the ground up this film hits near perfection on just about everything. This is pretty much the definition of a classic. Trust me, this film might be a little long, but is totally worth watching.

I skipped that one...I looked a little to much like Liar Liar for me to care about it. Also I noticed that I haven't seen very many "Y" films...so I'll start with one that should have been reviewed a while ago.

Story: A young Dr. Frankenstein, pronounced "Fronkensteen", is told that he has inherited his grandfathers Transylvania castle. Of course on arrival hilarity ensues.
Review: This is my favorite Mel Brooks films, it doesn't miss a step. Every joke is pretty much dead on and really funny. Wilder does an amazing job as the lead, he co-wrote this too. Though the really stars of the show is the late great Peter Boyle and Marty Feldman. Who portrayed the most memorable Frankenstein monster and Igor I can think of. In my opinion this is one of the finest comedies every created and one you should see.

Story: Struggling singer pretends to be a Drag Queen to make money.
Review: Probably one of the funniest films that deals with the subject of sexual identity...though the theme isn't shoved down our throats. The basic jist of the story; Julie Andrews is pretending to be a Drag Queen and is becoming rich and famous off of it. James Garner falls for Andrews character...and Garner has no idea why. It's a pretty funny story and Edwards does a great job directing. All in all great movie.

Review: The 2nd Inspector Clouseau movie is by far and away the funniest. The comic set up in this film are so brilliant that it is impossible not to laugh. There are a ton of classic comedy in here and Sellers shines in what is basically his signature character. Trust me when I say this, you need to see this movie.

Yeah, pretty much. It has to be the worst explanation for replacing the lead character ever. To make matters worse they're doing a 3rd one of these with Vin Diesel...so I have no idea what retarded excuse they're going to use for bringing him back.

Review: Did I give away the ending with the above wording...yeah kind of. Do I care...no not really. This isn't a bad movie, but it's not a good one either. The film is kind of stuck in what I think I've called forgettable mediocrity. It's where a film is just so unoriginal and mediocre that it's completely forgotten.

Story: A nameless assassin is out to kill Charles de Gaulle. Meanwhile a French police force is out to find this assassin.
Review: This is a well done film following a methodical assassin as he slowly sets up the assassination of Charles de Gaulle for OAS...an underground terrorist force. What's really interesting is that the OAS actually tried to assassinate Charles de Gaulle in real life back in 62. The film is well shot and acted...also this is not an action film like the 1997 version.

Story: The real Elvis is in an old folks home out in Texas that is under siege by a Mummy and he along with a black JFK must take him down.
Review: Probably one of the weirdest stories ever filmed, it's kind of hard to believe how well it turned out. I went expecting it to be a straight up comedy, but was surprised that it was more of a strange amalgamation of horror, comedy and I guess drama. The best part of the film is the acting and how the characters are written. You get to the point where you are willing to believe that Ossie Davis is actually John F. Kennedy with a bag of sand for a brain. It's not perfect, but still an entertaining film.

Director: Sergio Leone
Story: It's Yojimbo...no seriously Kurosawa sued Leone over this film and won. In fact Kurosawa wrote Leone this, "It is a very fine film, but it is my film."
Review: Much like Yojimbo, this film is about a nameless warrior who wanders into a town that is run by two rival gangs. The nameless warrior decided to free the town from the gangs by playing them off each other. This one isn't as good as Leone's other films and is the weakest entry into the dollars trilogy, but it's still an entertaining film none the less.
