Title: The Matador

Story: A hitman and a salesman walk into a bar...yeah I ripped off the poster.

Review: The Matador is a well done dark comedy about a depressed and friendless hitman befriending a down-on-his-luck salesman in Mexico City. This is probably my favorite Brosnan role, he does a spectacular job in this film. The setup for the film is pretty good and it allows for the friendship to build up between the two characters. This is the kind of film that is quickly forgotten, but is definitely worth your time.

So The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was on t.v. today and since its been like 6 years since i've seen it in it's entirety i figured i'd give it a watch again. Great movie. Clint is a BAMF

Title: Enemy of the State

Story: Will Smith was at the wrong place at the wrong time and get the full force of the US intelligence agencies gunning for him.

Review: As you can tell from a few of my previous reviews, I really hate Tony Scott. I see him at the same level as Micheal Bay and this isn't movie elitism talking either. The man is somewhere between a very boring filmmaker and a very bad filmmaker. It gets really bad you compare him to his older brother Ridley, the differences between the quality of filmmaker becomes painfully apparent.

With all that I said above, Tony Scott still has a few entertaining films up his selves. Enemy of the State is one of those films. It's a well put together action film, with likable performances coming from Hackman and Smith. There is rarely a dull moment and is constantly engaging. So yeah...see it.

Ive seen it a few times & have it, so ill sum it up the best I can:

Cop believes all robots are evil & hates all robots due to past experience. Everyone thinks hes paranoid because of this issue. Company creates new robot that is trained to so-called "protect & serve". Cop doesnt believe company but still investigates the murder of the person who created the robots. Movie is an interesting twist of action & suspense. I always enjoy watching the movie for the hilarity of it. I like Will's sarcastic attitude in it. He really fit the character well.

I hope that takes care of your memory. If it doesnt, either rent or buy the darn movie.

Title: I, Robot

Director: Alex Proyas

Story: On some evenings when the moon is high and the wind is right. You can watch this movie on mute and if it's quite enough you can hear in the far distance, Asimov rolling in his grave.

Review: Ok, listen...Alex Proyas should not have made this movie. This should not have been his cinematic follow up to Dark City. It should have been Micheal Bay or Brett Ratner directing this, not Alex Proyas. The man had far to much talent to be directing a 2nd rate adaptation of Isaac Asimov brilliant collection of short stories. Now Proyas is ruined forever with the Knowing and some retarded vampire flick that coming out in a year.

Oh, and another thing...Will Smith, stop being in crappy adaptations of Sci-fi classics. Seriously, first I, Robot and then I Am Legend...just stop it. Also Men in Black III-D does count as ruining a Sci-fi classic, there isn't need for another freakin sequel.

Yeah, I know this isn't that bad of a movie and at times it can be pretty entertaining. It's just so damn devoid of anything original in the way of plot or the production of the film.

Oh right, so it's like the generic robot/human movie, one guy hates robot, people thinks hes crazy, but then the robots are evil and the guy has to save everyone. And could you please review BASEketball, not sure if you already said you haven't seen it

It's less like a Sci-fi film and more like your standard cop action movie. No I haven't seen BASEketball.
 
How about Catch-22, based on the novel by Joseph Heller. The movie was nowhere near as good as the book, but was enjoyable nonetheless.

Story: A legless Kenneth Branagh decides it would be a splendid idea to try and spark off a civil war with a giant mechanical spider.

Review: There are bad ideas and then there is the plot of the Wild Wild West. A star studded catastrophe of near biblical proportions. I've yet seen someone use this much talent to produce such a crappy movie as Wild Wild West. There was no less that six freaking writers working on this story and screenplay. That's right, six...it took six people to crap out this unholy mess. This movie is so bad in fact that Will Smith apologized to the star of the original series for his role in Wild Wild West. It's a movie were there was to much talent, to much money and to many people working on the script. You'd be doing yourself a favor to avoid this one.

Story: Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear?

Review: Ok, full disclosure...I really like the book Catch-22. I'm it fall easily into my top ten books of all time. No screw that, it's probably my favorite book I've read...and I've read a lot of books. So after I read Catch-22 for the what was probably my second time (out of six or seven) I decided to watch the movie. My hopes were high, the cast was talented and Mike Nichols isn't that bad of a director. So when sat down to watch this I was a little shocked to how the final production turned out. In the movie, the story is told with a heavy hand and lacks a lot of the humor to be found through out the book. One of the great things about the book is that there is a dichotomy with both humor and tragedy. It is pretty much the only book I've read where one second I could be rolling on the floor laughing and the next slitting my wrists in depression. The movie lacks this and it suffers because of that. For a lack of better words I hate this movie the first time around. In retrospect though it's not that bad of a film...not great, but it could have been worse.

Hancock may not be your favorite but hopefully, other than Wild Wild West, it's not the worst movie you've ever seen. I made a mistake on Wild Wild West. That could have been better. ... [Interviewer: "...how would you feel about seeing The Fresh Prince hit the big screen?'] When there's a Fresh Prince movie, I hope I'm so far buried under something [laughs]. No, it's funny because I could never understand why Robert Conrad was so upset with Wild Wild West. And now I get it. It's like, 'That's my baby! I put my blood, sweat and tears into that!' So I'm going to apologize to Mr. Conrad for that because I didn't realize. I was young and immature. So much pain and joy went into The Fresh Prince that my greatest desire would be that it's left alone. But I'm sure some kid someday is going to be fantastic and it's going to be bigger than it was with me. And I'm going to be angry [laughs].

Story: A new villain has hit the streets of Gatham and in it's tail dredges up a whole lot of Bruce Wayne's past.

Review: I grew up watch Batman: The Animated Series, if you haven't seen it then you're missing out on one of the finest cartoon that the early 90's had to offer. It was darkly, well written and incredibly well animated. This movie contains pretty weighty themes and doesn't really pull any of it punches even though the film was aimed at kids. The film is a little disjointed at times and it suffers because of that. This one is actually worth seeing if you haven't.

Story: Is this the most effective summer movie ever?

Review: I remember going to see the Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time and loving the movie. It's what I would call the perfect fun summer movie; it's populated by a cast of likable characters, it has plenty of action, some romance, and comedy. There is nothing else anyone can ask for from a film like this one. It's pretty much faultless...though pacing is off in some places and it get just a little disjointed latter on in the film. Still, probably one of most effective summer movies ever made.
