Ventrilo not keying during active steam programs

After downloading The Passing for L4D2, I cannot key my mic when a steam program is my active program, whether it is a steam chat or a game, no keys will key my mic in ventrilo. I have tried to bind other keys and that did not help. I have both programs running as administrator.

Is the game being ran in fullscreen mode?

no, I run it in no window with no border, and its not just games, its even steam chats.

So, to understand clearly.

EVERYTIME you run STEAM and it is your active window, you can not key. Correct? No matter what you set it to?
And ONLY STEAM and its games? Not anything else?

Maybe delete ventrilo, delete venteilo registry, then re-install?

I searched Google, this seems to only happen with Steam's new BETA version and certain software/hardware.

If this doesn't apply to you, may you confirm your hardware?

I switched back from the beta steam to the normal steam. My hardware and software has not changed except for downloading The Passing for Left 4 Dead 2.


Should I try a system restore to before I dled that update?

If before the game was put on their worked, then yes.

However, if this is the case, it'd be safe to say something or some game altered your settings in some way.

Because, normally windowed games don't take over the mouse like that unless specifically set so.
