for the exper

Usually throwing pieces of other maps and a bunch of maps together doesn't always turn out quite well. Maps are supposed to be unique in that they're made by scratch.

I do occasionally work on DoD:S maps when I need to take a break from CSS mapping. Ive worked on porting Switch (right now its in an alpha stage and is playable but not pretty), as well as porting Zalec, Escape, and a few others. Lastly I am working on my own map from scratch and its about 90%. The main point is all these maps are different and dont combine buildings or areas from other maps because for the most part mentioned above they dont work well together in a map.

Thanks for the offer to help out (when time allows). I understand what youre saying about the dynamics and characteristics of each map but i think what we all have in mind are some key traits from each map. Maybe the elevation differences and urban sprawl of Avalanche, the sewers and water ways or Kalt and Anzio, and the openess and balance of Donner. Heck at this point i think anything that looks relatively close to a combination of maps will put us at ease!

we have a stalemate.
I will rephrase.
Who can make a new realism map for the DODS devision?
what map?played no role, if but a good one
what should be provided in the map:a dividing line, 3 or 5 flags or tanks, many buildings be accessible and many places where you can hide.

who who who can make us a new realism map?

greets and thanks pat.

Here's a summary of what you want that exists but in a different game.

A period before the round to set up and get in position.

The attacking team cannot start until set up time is over and defending team cannot camp right out side the attacking teams spawn.

Thus a starting area for attackers, a neutral area that neither can go into until the round starts, a main area that the defenders set up in and where the objectives are that you capture or destroy.

This exists in one game and currently one game for the most part. Team Fortress 2.

CP and Payload maps are exactly this other than a neutral area. You cant do this in DoDS. It makes no sense to have gates that magically open after a time. This game is only capable of so much. Although I can experiment but for what its worth its really not worth the effort of making a map that does all this for one hour. Plus realism in DoDS doesn't make much sense either in my opinion.

Thou art invited-eth

I know you mean well and I think we all know the time and trouble that mapping takes, but to put something down before you try it?!?! Now you would not be the first person from a different division to put down our Realism Night, but when I say that our Day of Defeat Realism Night makes Counter Strike Source look as enjoyable as jury duty, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone in this division as well as most of the others to disagree!

Rogue, the realism program takes care of start time etc, we use the honor system for accessibility, the only problem we have on some maps is delineating where the midpoint is, which is a limit on the defenders' position (i.e., defenders can not set up or advance past the midpoint of the map). All we need is map I would guess mostly open since we mostly use rifles but with plenty of cover, and if possible a line or trench delineating the midpoint across the map, even a strip of grass or road would do.

Stormy, I thought you knew by now but you're not the easiest person to comprehend.

Maybe this might help.

On a side note, I can totally see pat getting antsy that we're digressing lol....

:cursing: THANK YOU YET AGAIN SKIPPY!!!! :cursing:

But you are right about your side note; we should be discussing maps and the like. I think what we want are the major elements of the maps we have grown to love as well as a line running through the middle of them to denote boundaries. I am sure that our thirst will be more than quenched as soon as Spray and Kendle finish uploading almost 100 new maps.
