So i would like to know how we are to address swearing in BB2, there's a bunch of it that comes from in game and i dont see a way to control that. It seems like a big contradiction to ask players to watch their language in a game that is really heavy on swearing, i have no trouble doing so but i myself dont understand why i am and would like to maybe have it explained to me as to why i am asking others to watch what they type in chat when i have so much extra swears in my ear. this way i can better explain to them as well.

What im really concerned about is enforcing a rule that may be damaging our ability to recruit other players so we can keep these servers up. Ive had one instance where i got into an "argument" about it. the jist of it was we (clan) were silly to be asking people not to swear, which resulted in a chorus of agreement from other players. and in thinking about it, if i wasnt an =(e)= and didnt know much about them i too would find it silly and prob wouldnt want to join.

-Edited for language. Please do not curse on the forums even to prove a point. -Noxx

Thanks to all who take the time to read this and i apologize in advance for the swears.

You can't apologize in advance for the swears if the apology comes at the end of what you are saying... lol j/k

You are correct there is a certain amount of common sense and judgment that goes into admining when it come to swearing, just stick mainly to the rule that if the swearing is within reason and isn't directed at anyone in particular in a verbal attack or demeaning fashion it is okay to allow it. If every other word is a curse word or it is directed at someone then I would step in as follows:

1. if you are an "e" look to see if any "eG's" or "eGO's" are in game and if they are alert then via vent or private message

2. If there aren't any in game simply warn the player that cursing in an abusive way is not allowed in eGO servers.

3. if the player persists look to see if you can find a "eG" or "eGO" in vent or steam and ask them to help out.

The exact same way as in other games.

I'm pretty sure we do not want to keep the server up with people who does not have the same standard as eGO members should have.

Being an =e= myself, dont take what is following for cash. I do not think going into an argument with those people is a good thing. eGO rules are there to be followed, that's it. Saying we should allow swearing because there is some in the game make no sense. That would mean we could allow all sort of verbal violence because we are playing a violent game. This is not a path we wish to go down.

So basically I do not think rules should be changes since it would go against eGO value. Of course, Duality will make the call on that. Thought I doubt there will be any...

Thank you CharlieMac, i was hoping a more "casual" approach would be applied to this issue, and i completely agree with how it should be handled. as long as its not directed at someone or being completely out of hand i will be happy to let it fly. but if i do feel its getting there then i will use the tips you have supplied and do my best.

and thank you madMartigan, but i don't think you quite understood my post. i never argue with anyone in our servers. it was more of a friendly debate, which is why i used "argument" and not argument. and i didnt want to change any rules my friend, just that a simple rule may not always apply to every situation.

but thank you both for your input.

lol and your right, kinda of another contradiction to apologize in advance at the end huh ;p

I agree keeping the servers swear free is pretty hard when the game curses non-stop, but there is already a swear filter in game that pretty much catches everything. We simply enforce the rules of eGO as best we can. Swearing in the servers is not acceptable. We pride our selves on following eGO rules such as no swearing and I don't think we are going to change that rule any time soon. So remember when you see a person swearing on our servers Warn/Kick/Ban.

Little reminder please do not swear on the forums even to prove a point. These are still public forums therefor please follow the same rules we applied to our servers.
