CS:S Source BETA

RESPAWN is right! Making it more TF2 Like with how it plays... mwahhahahahahaha, CSS players in distress because they can't deal with the changes, but its always been that way for us TF2 players

CSS becoming more like TF2? Maybe I'll play the game more now.

It's closed guys

Some thoughts.

1. mouse speed is diff
2. player speed is diff, you feel like you're on ice skates -- the whole movement of the game is different
3. when you're scoped in strafing speed is ridiculously super fast
4. Pistols are much more difficult to aim on the run as such.
5. most of the achievements have little to no thought put into them, a 5th grader could have made them. (ie. plant a bomb, defuse a bomb, kill 10000 people, etc.) - then again, it is CS:S
6. Lighting, HDR has changed drastically on certain maps. dust1 being one of the prominent examples.

Any multicore rendering? :D

Ehh. Whatever I'll have to get over the fact that I completely hate and disagree with it, it's going to be such a waste, I'm extremely disappointed about it all. -sigh-

OMG. An update :O The first ever ?

And it was a TF2 member who brought it to us, aww skux, thanks.

Edit: Oh it's closed? false excitement much?

Thats jst... Odd... It realy does look like TF2.. They said like DoD as well... doesnt seeem like it...

I think everyone is over reacting about this. Nothing will change at the most you will have to get used to the new way of playing since the acceleration is different. None of our servers willl be effected since we dont run any mods anymore. Quit over reacting and get over it guys, I think this is going to bring more flair to CS:S for me and I may play some more.

We do run mods on all of our servers but none of them should be really effected, valve isnt going to try and break any of them on purpose.

I have the beta and really see no difference between the regular game and the beta...of course I have only played like 10 minutes of the first one :P I do however like it better than the regular one. I don't know why, but I do.

BTW, if anyone wants to play I have a dedicated server set up for the beta. Just grab me in vent or pm me in steam and I can start it up.

I use to play a lot of CS, and then I got suckered over to the TF2 side of the fence. Anyhow, I noticed the beta and got in.

It has achievements... but no indication that it will be part of a weapon unlock.

It did give a MVP for the round, which was sort of cool. Tells you who and more importantly why they were MVP.

Play felt unchanged from what I remembered. (Granted, it has been a while). I think I remember an update that would add a pause after you jumped? Not sure... Anyhow, movement was back to what I expected. (Many grains of salt here, as I've spent many, many hours in the TF2 side)

Graphics were still the same dated feel. No sorely needed texture updates. Dust/Office look exactly like I remembered them. One interesting bit is some boxes would fade if they were way in the distance. OOTB wall hack with the para.

Not many servers out there. Do we have one? Any interest in setting up one?

actually that is the main reason why people didn't like going from 1.6 to source was because the movement speed and acceleration was different etc. and now they change it again after years and years of no updates what so ever?? i think it is something to get upset about if you frequent this game and have played it since release IMO

first of all the update is pointless..who cares if it looks slightly more flashy (tho i think it looks stupid) and giving you achievements? i have FBG for that TYVM. Multicore suppport? unnecessary...improved graphics?? sure i'll take it, but CSS has always looked pretty awesome to me anyway. Change the game mechanics around on the flop like movement speed etc? Way to make everybody learn how to play the game all over again.

this might be a deal breaker for me

edit: forgot to mention that i was hoping they would actually fix issues with CSS when i saw this thread - but they're not, they are just trying to gussy it up and i guess make you forget about those issues.

This is my exact input on it.
