New laptop; how well would BF:BC2 run?

My dad got me a new laptop for graduation (which is absolutely beyond a massive upgrade off my desktop PC, which only just made it up to 2gigs of RAM and was bottlenecked with only AGP slots for graphics cards and an incredibly outdated processor), and so far it's running everything great. TF2 had everything turned up but anti-aliasing by default and was running smooth, didn't get a chance to actually check the FPS before I had to drop off. I had to slightly drop the graphics on MW2 to keep up an FPS level that wouldn't hinder playability.

The problem is that I don't know how well BC2 will run. I've gotten mixed opinions on whether or not it's easier to run than MW2, but I'd figure it'd take a more power to handle the excessive particle effects?

From what I've gathered from Aida32 (sadly, there wasn't a specs list on the box or inside it):

-Intel Dual Core, each @ 1.30 GHz, 1733 MHz
-GeForce G210M (I'm not up on laptop graphics, I have no idea what range that's in)
-4 gigs of RAM (can't find where the type is listed in Aida32 but it tops the benchmark list.)

Strangely a lot of things are being listed as "unknown" in Aida32, including my motherboard info.

The processor is alright. It should run BC2 with no problems.

But the GPU is a bit on the weak side. But I think it should still be able to play it on low/mid settings. But you will have to tone down your resolution in game to get a decent FPS. Try at the lowest resolution and just keep moving up till you are comfortable with the FPS.

The GT210m GPU has 16 stream processors. Give you an example a Geforce 9800GT has 112 SP's, the GTX 260 has 216 SP's, the GTX 470 has 448. Recommended GPU for BC2 is a GTX260. You might be able to play at very low res, all low settings, with very very low frames, virtually unplayable. Plus BC2 is VERY CPU dependent as well...

Ahh sorry about my first post. Just did some digging up on your GPU and dbee is right. It is really weak card. More so then what I thought.

A quick guide on your card and what to expect for BC2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (2010)
low(everything on the lowest settings) 20-28 FPS
med 15 FPS max
high 9 FPS max
maxed 4 FPS max

MW2 = Easy to run
BC2 = Hard to run

You wouldn't get good frames with that CPU even if you video card was better.

BC2 wont be able to go on your processor most likely

@ 1.3Ghz or 1.7GHz even though its dual core, will probably really hold you back because of the physics, but the weak video card wont help either. Doesn't look like that laptop is designed for gaming. Though, for a more accurate CPU speed use dxdiag in Run under Windows XP or in search for Vista/7.

Somehow it doesnt seem right that a Core 2 Duo is only 1.3Ghz or even only 1.7Ghz, not even Dells are that slow anymore (at least a year a go they weren't, well Inspiron/Studio models aren't [Onyx models are but meh]).

More than likely its a C2D ULV, which are often at low speeds like that

We just recently got a laptop with these specs:

AMD Turion II M500 (2.2Ghz dual core)
4GB memory
Radeon HD 4570 512mb

That setup is slightly faster than your laptop, and it has framerate issues at lowest settings. It's mainly due to the CPU. That being said, a Core 2 Duo below about 2.4Ghz (minimum) is going to have problems running this game. BC2 just eats up CPU horsepower, and most laptops are lacking in that area.

Yea, you really need a high-powered CPU for BC2. I'm running a 1.8GHz Quad-Core and even I have framerate issues.
