I wasn't actually planning to do this just yet and I certainly wasn't planning to go this route.

Previous setup was:

AMD Athlon X2 4800+
Gigabyte AM2+ GA-MA69VM-S2 AMD690V Chipset
2GB DDR2 800 Memory
GeForce GTX 260
CoolerMaster PSU: 750W w/ 900W peak
WD Caviar 640GB HDD

New Setup:

AMD Phenom II x6 1055T
MSI AM3 890GXM-G65
4GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 Memory/CAS 7-8-7-20
GeForce GTX 260
CoolerMaster PSU: 750W w/ 900W peak
WD Caviar 640GB HDD

I was already looking at that MSI mobo to pair alongside a Athlon II x4 635, but when I saw this on slickdeals, I just couldn't pass it up.

Why get the entry-level quad-core and the MSI board when I can get the hexa-core and the board for roughly the same price. =)

The CPU, Mobo, and RAM together cost around 350$

The system looks very solid. You won't feel the effect of that 6-core processor immediately, but as soon as games and other apps begin supporting it, you will be happy you got it.

Also, it overclocks really well once you disable Turbo Core.

Okay? What do you need our help with?

Nothing bro. Just thought I would post the new upgrades I made as well as post the deal that I had found which made this upgrade possible. I wasn't under the impression that Tech Talk was only about asking for help; if so then my bad. o_o

Agreed. I don't expect to be seeing the cores pushed past 3 or 4 anytime soon, but hey I'll take the extra wiggle room it'll give meh for the future. XD

Like I had said, I really wasn't looking to buy the hexa-core as an Athlon II x4 would've done a fine job as a cheap interim build; but with that deal from Frys there was no reason to take the hexa-core at no more cost to me. =D

I got it running stock for the moment just to make sure that it is running fine (put it together last nite). I'll more than likely play around with tweaking the settings here and there and see how it does.

Sorry for coming off so rude, I must've thought this was in Tech Help.
