Good ol' PL maps gone forever?

Ok,

Ive been playing the ego PL server since I began playing TF2. Since then I have met alot of people through this server and know pretty much all the regulars. Hobo, Rene, Out Kold, Doomtrain, etc etc. Recently, PL turned into an "events" server (apparently) and since then, its been either dead empty, or locked due to an event.

Alot of us are wondering if this is going to be a permanent or temporary thing. Ive really been turned off of Ego recently because of this. I mean, sure, playing on Turbine, or Egypt is cool - but not after the 500th time you played it. I play on Ego servers because overall, its a better gaming experience. Its filled with respectful players and over all, alot of fun. I play PL, because I get a nice variety of maps, and play with people I know.

Now, whenever I come home from work, and play with friends or family, we are forced to go elsewhere. The 2 we usually choose from is Valve maps server or PL, but no one is in PL because its randomly locked for events, and when its not, no one is in it. Because people think its for events. :cursing:

The auction/event server; it was removed due to it being empty nearly all the time. Now, PL maps is empty nearly all day, except on the late evening. Unfortunately, events interfere with it being full.

The PL maps server was selected to be the new event server because of the low population. As far as I know, ego cannot afford another server exclusively for events, so this change may be permanent.

Setting up another server would cost us too much, as were low on cash as is. PL maps is often empty, but we do our best to fill it.

But one of those two hours is when the PL maps server is at it's peak, and I takes some time to refill it.

You got it turned around: it was turned into an event server because it was always empty, not it got turned into an event server and then became empty.

Get some friends together and fill PL.

sorry man, yeah what mrcool said, it was almost always empty before it became the events server, and Valvemaps was almost always full but kept getting emptied for events which was stopping Valve from reaching its full potential. Oh, and the players you listed area also regulars on Valvemaps and our other servers... so yeah lol

In my opinion visit valve maps more often, im getting tired of killing the same people over and over again...I need me some fresh meat.

My friend Seperous and I like to play PL, but it's always empty. I'll get together the gang and try to fill it more often, then. (The gang is Zeu5, Seperous, Kiwidog4, Haentar, Nubcake, zach, and Kronos. We go to the same school.)

Need a group effort to help PL - at least seeding, and playing if/when you can.

What about an evening PL revival? Try to get it started around 7:00pm CST every evening...

...and there was mention of changes to the PL server: shorter map times, maybe some additional PL maps to choose from...

Id be in for said evening PL revival. I'll try to get Doomtrain, OutKold, Hobo, etc etc involved. I know they would be down for that.

About server times / maps, I know the last time they updated the server the map times went up to an hour and 30 minutes, which I recall people wondering why the map times was so high and then by the time it got down to like, 30 or so minutes left you would start seeing RTV. As far as maps go, the most mentioned was Hoodoo, db heights, with some cashworks here and there along with the usual Badwater / goldrush combo.

Another reason a lot of the regulars, like my self don't play on the pl server is the server has some weird lag issues. It only happens when the server gets full. As if the server can't handle 32 players at a time. As a sniper it gets annoying having people warping around the map. I don't have this issue with any other EGO server.

If you have net_graph 1 activated when the server is full you will see your lerp stat turn yellow when the server can't keep up with all the action.

I do drop in if some people are playing, around 10-24 ppl, but when it gets full I can't play effectively so I go play somewhere else.

I would like to point out that the server started to become empty when it started to lag (I guess you moved server locations or something). Although it has improved recently, it will still get weird lag spikes on occasion.

Also, after you guys do your events or whatever, can you remember to reset all of the settings to default? For instance, a few nights ago, it was set to instant respawn. And, last night, it was set to change maps after 10 wins no matter which point you happened to just cap. This would be very helpful...
