Public Grammar Announcement

Your so wright. They're so many grammar errors in posts. Thanks for the lesson!

Well everyone, it's Wednesday. And you know what that means, right? No...not free ice cream. It's time for eje's grammar post of the week! Today we will be looking at the differences in the words 'affect' and 'effect'.

You see, both 'affect' and 'effect' are verbs, but with very different meanings. To 'affect' something is to have an impact upon it.

Ex: "Gaming with eGO has affected me."

But to 'effect' something is to put it in place, or create it.

Ex: "The Leadership at eGO has effected a zero tolerance policy for racism."

However, the word effect can also be a noun, where it's definition changes. The noun 'effect' means 'to be affected'. So to be affected, and having an effect on, are the same things.

Ex: "Gaming with eGO has had an effect on me."

OR

Ex: "Gaming with eGO has affected me."

They both mean the same thing.

Tips:

To affect, is to impact.

To use the noun 'effect' is to speak of something that has been 'affected'.

To effect something is to create it.

Random but relative fact:
To be infected is to have a zombie bite you and turn you into one of them. I hope I become a tank.

ima punkin as effected me

I judge people who use bad grammar. Pronouncing things... not so much, since I have my own issue with that.

I have fought with my english teacher about which effect/affect is correct. Needless to say, i won.

Im soooooooooo glad somebody else understands the difference. It gets pretty annoying sometimes.

pfft i dont really care all that much when people misuse homophones

its when they add S's to words that dont need it

examples: "that's mines", "those new kids are freshmens"

or redundency

"ATM machine" - automatic teller machine machine
"Hot water heater" - why would you heat water thats already HOT?

Or that annoyence where people point at the GROUND, ya know, the dirt, grass, gravel, asfault, etc.?
and they call it the FLOOR

floors are the things inside of buildings

Most common, one of the most annoying mistakes ever.

There is only a few mistakes here.
There's not many things to say about this post.

Subject is plural, guys! You use "are." Things! Mistakes! Those are the subjects, not "post" and "here".
